Sadly, 5 days is too long for no update in these type of things. I fear the worst, hopefully it works out well.
gc….never thought I’d see My Bloody Valentine mentioned on these pages. Would have given good odds on that happening.
Have always thought of him as very underated. Good to see him getting a bit of praise. Wouldn’t be the first time I’ve backed a horse on the strength of him being up.
My guess is she had already written the article before she went into the bookies, if she actually went in to one at all.
Though to be fair, the wearing of scarves indoor, is a subject that probably deserves more scrutiny.
Yeah, great pics Cav. Loved the "Die Hards" and "Interval" pics. Very familiar!
Craig,
The official best Nationals to show are…
88 – Rhyme N Reason
94 – Miinnehoma
01 – Red Marauder
04 – Amberleigh HouseAvoid 1996 to 1999, particularly 1996, the worst National of all time.
Hey Zip, good to hear from you, yeah, had a quick look on You Tube, and think I found the clip you’re talking about, it’s good stuff!
It’s funny, when I made the Keane comparison, I half wondered whether it was already common knowledge how similar they were, or it was just my imagination. Pleased to see i wasn’t imagining it.
I think you’re spot on, now’s the time for them to call it a day!
Thanks for the tip off about the C4 show. I’ll def watch it, even though I have a love/hate thing going on with these 80’s shows. It’ll be all style and no substance i.e great videos, but average tunes. I’m sure you know the usual suspects. I won’t mention them for fear of offending anyone! Ha!
In the mood now for trawling You Tube. Like Pompete, I may even look up some Transvision Vamp, but purely for musical reasons! Ahem!
Moe/Zip, def one of the most overlooked bands of the 80’s, from a Pop view of things anyway! Unfairly branded a teenybop band, not really the case as they fell out of favour in that bracket pretty quickly. They had a lot more to offer than that, and I’ve a lot of time for Scoundrel Days.
Hate seeing "Take On Me" on any 80’s show, as not even close to their best. Not in the same league as "I’ve Been Losing You", and several others.
Zip, enjoyed the blog, but I thought a bit harsh on "Foot Of The Mountain", I thought it was proper return to form. I may be in the minority though!
Here’s a thing, am I the only person who thinks Keane have borrowed heavily from A-ha? I think there’s a lot of similarities!
Anyway, good to read your posts, and no, I’m definitely not drooling over any of them.
Internationaldebut for me too! To be chased home by Splendorinthegrass. Wish it was that easy!
Great line up this year, looks a cracker.
Eradicate for me.
Fabalu, if placed right could also be one to follow. Wish I had a couple which were a lot more obscure, but that’s the best I can do.
Not so much of a dark horse over jumps, but think Deutschland could pick up a decent prize on the flat!
Definitely One Man for me too. That was hard to take, especially so soon after his victory at Cheltenham! So many more though!
John,
Not Ted Walsh’s biggest fan, but big fan of Gleesons, a gut I’ve always liked. I’d like to see more of him over here! Only seen the others in snippets, but certainly seemed to be ok to me! I wasn’t watching the full coverage last week, but got some if it through a link. I can only assume interruptions have been driving you up the wall. Never fun!
John, he was as bad as ever this week, he just can’t commentate, can he?
Didn’t have as many highlights this week as previous years, but a few things stood out!
The continuing rise of Paul Townend was great to see, as was the return of Hurricane Fly. Hope he stays fit for next season, if he does, the Champion Hurdle should be a cracker. It was also great to see War of Attrition bow out with a brave effort! Forpady ran his heart out again, he’ll win a big one soon hopefully, and the same can be said for Deutchsland and Bensalem.
Yeah, never struck me as a stayer either, just thought worth a mention on your thread, as Mullins obviously thinks of him as a future National horse, and kept him entered till late on this year!
Can’t quite put my finger on it, he just impressed me today. Really battled on today, and full of running at the the end. Don’t know why, just really took to him today! Probably talking through my b@ckside again though!
As for the pedigree, I’ll have to take your word on that, I’m hopeless when it comes to these things. Clueless! Ha!
Gerald, I know Mullins said he thinks of Deutchsland as a future National horse. I thought that was a pretty eye-catching run today, albeit under slightly different conditions from Aintree! Well, caught my eye anyway!
Well done Young Fella, good call.
Fingers crossed for Kilcrea Castle, but it didn’t look good!
Was delighted to see my old fave Monkerhostin run such a big race, and I hate to say it, but I’d really like to see him retired now!
