This is for Big Bucks

Judged from the last 3 years you want to be drawn middle to high in this. I have a shortlist of 3 so far:
Thebes (23) – in form of late and beat Vitznau in a competitive sprint on the AW latest; is on a reasonable turf mark and has the speed to compete.
Dandy Boy (13) – Irish raider who looks unexposed.
Oratory (9) Hannon/Hughes on fire, was a good 3rd LTO.
May 6, 2010 at 16:10 #294423I’ll be backing Prime Exhibit in this. He was unfortunate to come up against a Group horse in the Lincoln and would have been a very cosy winner otherwise. Hence a 5lb rise won’t stop him being very competitive in this.
May 6, 2010 at 16:39 #294425Just looked at the weather forecast and it may be quite soft in Berkshire come Saturday. Therefore, I will add
Makameen
for Barry Hills who is drawn high and has form on soft ground, and
Signor Peltro
who is the same. Candy’s horses are coming to hand as well which is a plus. Minimum stakes in this minefield, though.
May 6, 2010 at 17:14 #294429Thanks Rich

Internationaldebut & Huzzah pour moi, but both are low, is that bad? Or is there a ‘golden highway’ near the rail over there
May 6, 2010 at 17:34 #294433Well i think only Iffraaj from stall 5 and Camp Commander from stall 10 have won low in the past 7 years. Having said that, only Swift Gift from 29 has won
above
stall 16 in the same period. Seemingly this suggests being in the middle is the best place to be (10-16 perhaps). Though of course these stats can only go so far and it’s a real lottery to try and find the winner. Ground will be significant, and I believe Makameen has a lot going for him. Unexposed, has experience of large fields and has won on soft going. His defeat of Wannabe King, Fareer and Felday in a class 3 sprint at Newbury last year is solid form (all three winning since, notably Fareer who won the Britannia). If the tissue price 20/1 is still available on Saturday I think that’s extremely generous.
May 6, 2010 at 19:14 #294443Prime Exhibit & Brave Echo would be my two against the field.
May 6, 2010 at 20:15 #294453I agree with Rich, Makaamen caught my eye at Newbury lto, when Hills gave up because there was no way through, horse was full of running imo,and 25/1 which it is at the mo,is massive

Good luckers all
May 6, 2010 at 20:23 #294456turnip is a serious player, with rich on as well I shall have to go looky at this beast

May 7, 2010 at 13:08 #294523Just back Dandy Boy at 25’s and watch him romp home.
It’ll be like the Portland all over again
May 7, 2010 at 20:22 #294574I’ve been trying something different for the past couple of weeks, which you may refer to as Draw Roulette.
I’m going for stalls 3-8, 20-23, and 27-29.
Not much data, some of which is before the development, and 13 selections, so I’ll keep the stakes low.
The good news is that I’ve got some sensible selections, and I’ve only spent a couple of minutes on the race.
May 7, 2010 at 21:34 #294586Oratory for me – looks like he’s finally getting his act together after being gelded. The drop to 7f should help.
I was tempted to go for a small e/w on the topweight Dunelight too.
May 7, 2010 at 23:47 #294596Big Noise for me … on my list since last backend … lightly raced, no ground preference and goes well fresh … currently 25/1 with Ladbrokes and Stan James
May 8, 2010 at 08:36 #294612It’s Advanced for me ratio bet at 28-1

Flipando for me (ew 28/1); perfect draw for Jamie to pounce late from.
May 8, 2010 at 10:31 #294635Added Makaamen to Int’Debut and Huzzah.
gl all, could be a lottery!

I think the winner may have already had a mention here but I sure can’t see it being Advanced or Internationaldebut. I fear supporters of those nags would be better off looking elsewhere.

Dandy Boy certainly fits the bill. Weight probably against Dunelight and Marbait with the former the only value of the pair. There are better races for punters today.
