Glenn, good to see another Trailer Park Boys fan on here. Used to crack up just with the Episode titles…."If I Can’t Smoke and Swear I’m F@@cked", and "Jim Lahey is a F@@cking Drunk and He Always Will Be Spring" to mind. Brilliant show, with Ricky and Jim Lahey particularly good. Gonna have to get the DVD’s I think.

ETW…..he should have won it easily! I remember both races well. Wasn’t on, but was gutted for the horse. I think it was actually Paddy Merrigan (remember him?) who was up both starts. You’re right, seem to recall the jockey being gutted after the Haydock fall.

One of my favourite ever horses, a cracking horse, he’ll be sorely missed. Having said that, very happy to see him retire safe and sound.

    Jeff Overton @ 180-1

Hoping to at least get a run for my money. Hoping it’s gonna be good one, whoever wins! Love the Open, especially the first 2 days.

    Good luck everyone!

Was going to post on this thread, but Peruvian Chief has summed it up for me perfectly, especially with the Andy Gray comment. Glad I’m not alone.

Agree with everything you say……..apart from the being born in Scunthorpe bit!

Plenty of Humans I could mention, but thinking of some old equine rogues brought back some fond memories.

The last runner in a big race I can think of, was Gala’s Image way back in the 89 National. Probably some after that right enough, but none spring to mind.

The only other thing I can recall is that I’m sure Cudgels silks were purple with yellow hoops, but that just means I’m a sad case if that’s true, and doesn’t really help! Ha!

I’m afraid that’s as much help as I can offer. I’m not the best person for trawling the net looking for these things!

Ardross, yeah, wouldn’t argue my corner with Sandown, but it was def a RH track, I’m thinking Kempton or Ascot now! Sure it was C4, so would lead me towards Kempton. Soaf doesn’t ring a bell, but have a hunch Cudgel was ridden by Pat Eddery!

I’ve got all my old pull-outs from that era in the loft somewhere, but would take a serious effort to dig them out, not seen em for years. Hope they’re still there! God knows what colour they’ll be! Ha!

    Thanks mate, very much appreciated.

I know i watched it, so must have been 80’s. Pretty sure it was a midweek card at Sandown (might be wrong), and I’m sure last race, on the TV anyway, was won by the UK with a horse called Cudgel.

I’d love to see Brooklyn Brownie go well, think he might still have it in him, and the 40’s looks too good to resist each way. I’ll also go for a win Ouzbeck at the 16’s.
