●Pace of the race ’09:
1000m–59.0
1200m–1:11:2
2400m–2:22:4●Best 3 in the JC
1. ’05 Alkaased 2:22:1
2. ’89 Horlicks 2:22:2
3.’09 Vodka 2:22:4Mr Okada at Big Red Farm ‘has nothing to do with his (=Conduit) running the race; Sir Michael Stout simply aimed at the prize money of $2.5m (for the winner) with $1.3m bonus.’ (a racing paper in Japan)
The racing media in Japan reported (on 30 Oct) that Conduit, Dalakhani x Well Head (Sadler’s Wells), the winner of the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes ’09, would stand at Big Red Farm in Japan next spring. Mr Okada presiding over the farm, aka the ‘Fuhrer’, said: ‘I have watched for a chance to have him at my farm since he won the BC turf last year, and now have high hopes for him.’
Moon Ballad, along with Grandera, Dahjee, and Diktat, will soon leave Japan for UK. They are now in quarantine at JBBA Shizunai Stallion Station to fly back home in mid October.
I’ve just seen the replay, a frustrating race.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRyzWr1WW0oThe inquiry was about the Scenic Blast’s stumble.
Are these workouts sort of compulsory? Are the horses locked up and confined to one site, just like the jockeys?
I don’t think so (i.e., not compulsory); however, punters and fans should expect it, and it’s an ordinary way to prepare for races. Incidentally, scratching due to specific track condition-yielding, heavy, and etc.-is not allowed.
Horses coming to the race from other part of Japan basically enter into stalls for them equipped around each racecourse. Nakayama has 300 stalls.
Japan has produced few good sprinters on turf, and I don’t understand why Scenic Blast is not the favourite.

Starting from near the top of the hill at the third corner and going almost straight down to the final corner, horses come out to the final short straight (310m) with a 2.3m steep ascent. Generally, frontrunners with a rocket start from inside gates have an advantage.

in the The Foal Session is locally talked about; perhaps, the colt might fetch $2m because this is the first time that a sibling of the past 6 triple crown winners in Japan has been up on auction lists. His conformation really looks like his brother.
JRHA’s new arrangements for information disclosure in the Select Sale:
1) Online Veterinary Repository for yearlings available on the official site
2) Walking Video (1 minute) added to still images and pedigree tablesI’ll be able to show the link to them in July.
Can anyone help please and let me know where he is/what has happened to him? I know he went to Japan but he has dropped off the Darley stallion listings. Thank you.
He is now standing at Yushun Stallion Station in Hokkaido, Japan, being moved from Darley Japan.

http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=7UA9DBrlBS4On form I like the Japanese Super Hornet – based on his close up second in the Mile Championship although I’m not getting good vibes from Japanese pundits.
‘He is better prepared than I expected without much loss of weight. We had a workout on the turf, and I instructed the rider to give him a kick only in front of the goal to let him know that the race is approaching.’ (Mr Yahagi, trainer of Super Hornet)
Super Hornet beat Vodka in a G2(1800m) before the mile Championship:
http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=M_BCj0oHXeU
Vodka #3; Super Hornet #2 (RPR:124)But I have a doubt of his young jockey (13th among the JRA jockeys, as of 10th Dec, and I think this is the first race abroad for him)
replay:
http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=88hBIrfb_XoIt was Demuro’s turn that said ‘I love Japan.’ He is loved by other Japanese jockeys and the reason was clearly shown in the after-race interview. A nice young man.
I think this was a disappointing Japan Cup. The leading contenders ran to form and were beaten by a longshot.
I basically think that our middle distance horses have been visibly weakened since Sunday Silence’s direct sons were almost gone. Also I think Vodka is a miler.
