There seems a strong bias in favour of front runners and against those challenging wide. Could be bad for Presvis. Could be good for Takeover Target who’s opened at 6 on Kranji tote with Rocket Man 1/5
May 17, 2009 at 16:17 #228218Sacred Kingdom beats Rocket Man and Diabolical.
How did the race go, did anyone see it?
What happened to T Target?
May 17, 2009 at 16:43 #228219May 17, 2009 at 16:49 #228221Oh no, so very unfortunate for Presvis.
Did Ryan Moore sit too far behind?May 17, 2009 at 16:50 #228222T Target had an ideal run of the race, challenged about 4 wide off the bend but found nothing.
The front two looked very smart and pulled right away from the field to battle it out. Diabolical came from well off the pace to comfotabnly beat everything else.
Feel very sorry for Luca Cumani – he must have ran over a few black cats bearing in mind Bauer, Purple Moon, and now Presvis must be the unluckiest of the lot.

May 17, 2009 at 17:09 #228227Your winner, Gloria de Campeo at 33/1!
Bankable ran a fantastic race in 3rd. There will be more to come from him.
Presvis just left it too late. I dont think the draw had anything to do with it. He is a world class horse and will win many more Group races in the coming 12 months.
May 17, 2009 at 17:17 #228232And Moore was forced wide when the injured Jay Peg dropped back on him
May 20, 2009 at 09:33 #228894Gloria de Campeao won by default – the jockey probably thought it was Christmas when Jay Peg backed out. Extremely frustrating for this punter.
Takeover Target wasn’t at his optimum best, but even so I am sure that would’ve cut only 2-4 lengths off the final margin.
May 20, 2009 at 13:42 #228936That Bankable’s just not Group class, is he TDK
May 20, 2009 at 14:48 #228955Even though there was torrential rain in the week, and they watered on the morning of the race, the ground was still riding quick at Kranji on Sunday night. However the times were absolutely fantastic for these two races.
In the Cup Balius, who finished 7th, equalled Endless Hall’s track record (set in 2001) with 2.00.8 The first 5 horses went under 2 minutes for 10 furlongs with Bankable clocking 1.59.66 in 3rd. They covered the first mile in 1.35.65.
In the Sprint, Rocket Man had won the Lion City Cup over the course and distance in 1.8.7. However this time, even though he ran 1.07.87 he couldn’t handle Sacred Kingdom. I’m not a time man but presume that 45.8 for the first 800 metres is very quick.
