Former St Leger hero, Conduit, who landed the King George en route to a fantastic Breeders’ Cup Turf double at Santa Anita, will bid farewell in the worlds richest flat race at approx. 6:20am GMT Sunday morning.
Ryan Moore will once again partner the 4YO, who will stand at stud in Japan after the race.
You can watch the action on ATR, coverage starts at 6:00am GMT.
He will be joined by the Richard Hannon trained Scintillo, ridden by Gerald Mosse.
November 29, 2009 at 01:43 #261102I really think that Vodka may finally get her first win of the season here.
Despite her being at her strongest over a mile she was travelling extremely well last time out until Take got her into a pocket on the rail AGAIN. How many times has Take done this? I’ve lost count!
New jockey tonight, 4/1 is a nice price for a pace that should suit here (I think it’s going to be stop-start-stop-start but I know others will disagree with me on that).
I wouldn’t begrudge Conduit a final victory though. He’s definitely more than good enough to win this
November 29, 2009 at 06:44 #261108Good call, HTH.
Vodka recorded her seventh Grade One victory by holding off the late lunge of Oken Bruce Lee by a nose.
Conduit, who looked a picture beforehand, slightly missed the break from his wide draw. He settled well during the race, but lacked that extra bit of speed in the straight before staying on to finish fourth, beaten around 3L.
This was his third start in eight weeks, after finishing fourth in the Arc and winning the Breeders’ Cup Turf in Santa Anita.
Before this event, he had amassed over £3.2m in prize money. An honourable effort to finish his career.
November 29, 2009 at 06:52 #261109Vodka’s earnings are now 1,304,876,000Yen, or £9,158,407 at today’s exchange rate.
Not too shabby.November 29, 2009 at 08:10 #261113The unusually sedate pace was against Conduit so he has run a very brave race.
The horse who benefitted most from the tempo was indeed the winner but I would be happy to assume she would have been heavily outstayed by Oken Bruce Lee et al if they went a stern gallop.
November 29, 2009 at 09:57 #261123sedate pace ruined conduit chances here , anyone know if conduit stay in training next year
November 29, 2009 at 10:10 #261126Conduit retires to stud in Japan – think this race was probably one of the conditions of sale.
November 29, 2009 at 10:16 #261127ok thanks irish stamp
think conduit failed to repeat his breeders cup turf 2008 form this year , maybe the race was too hard , i remember they went a suicidal galop and soldier of fortune hasnt run sinceNovember 29, 2009 at 11:28 #261141●Pace of the race ’09:
