    July 31, 2021:

“With ballot papers due to start arriving tomorrow, Truss is 1.1 and Sunak is 11.

1/10 and 10/1 in old money.

I personally can’t see a way back for Sunak now.”

In a matter of two days:

    “1.23 Truss, 5.2 Sunak…

Market suggesting this isn’t over now.”

    Moral of the story?

“The teacher could be wrong, think for yourselves”

Loft is sired by Adlerflug (In the Wings, Sadler’s Wells) as is Turquator Tasso the 2021 Arc winner…

    “Also known as the procession”

No more so than in 2014 when Kingman won in a blistering time of 1:41.75 min. on ground rated good-to-firm! Wow!…the 4 jockeys should have got called-in before the stewards and each fined for “impersonating a jockey” in a world-class G1 race. Instead, the commentators on then Racing Uk channel all fell over each other proclaiming what a brilliant performance it was…????

Anyway, hoping for Modern Games here…

    Agree on that, ID.

I would have loved to see him progress. However his pedigree didn’t allow it…

Maybe it’s still early in the racing season, but in my view, it doesn’t matter whether people prefer turf to dirt or vice versa, this sport desperately needs superstars. This year’s 3-yo crop lacks depth and quality on both sides of the Atlantic so I’m not so sure about the quality of next year’s 4-yo+ division. But I remain hopeful that things will change and a few stars will emerge…

“…Seems like he gets no recognition as being a serious racehorse for some reason…”

Well said, totally agree with that. Go back in time and see how many 3-yo have won the Cox Plate, one of the top 10F races in the world. Followed that with G1 wins at Longchamp and Ascot and in between was 3rd beaten 1/2L by Alenquer at the Curragh..

Perhaps peace negotiations have already began? Two recent almost simultaneous events would support that.
    1. Russia and Ukraine reach deal to end blockade of grain exports in Black Sea;
    2. Russia resumes gas flows to Germany after Nord Stream “maintenance”.
Doesn’t appear that these events were coincidental. Moreover, any peace negotiations will certainly not be “bilateral”. EU/NATO may not be present at the table, but they do have a large stake in this having provided significant financial, logistical, and military (arms) aid to Ukraine. They will be there behind the scenes, rest assured…

This issue is not only about male golfers:

Cathy Harris of the “London Times” said the LPGA Commissioner Mollie Marcoux Samaan is open to having a conversation with LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman.

“It’s my responsibility to evaluate every opportunity. I would engage in a conversation if it would achieve our aim of promoting women’s golf but there needs to be input from players and sponsors. There’s a lot of factors to consider before we do business with LIV Golf.”

According to some, while there has been much debate about the ethics of taking money from the Saudi regime, the LPGA already has “multiple ties to Saudi.”

In the interview, Harris pointed out that Aramco, the state-owned Saudi Arabian Oil Company, “sponsors six Ladies European Tour (LET) events to the tune of $6 million.”

Greg Norman has also brought up the fact that the women’s game biggest sponsor is Aramco, yet there has been no criticism towards them.

“Why is it OK for them and nobody barks at them?” Norman said. “But the boys, they’re barking at you. “It’s simple, because it all starts out of the headquarters in Jacksonville.”

Harris also noted that three leading European players are “sponsored by Golf Saudi.”

Would like to see ‘Tasso confirm his Arc form here but, unfortunately, the ground may be against him as his best runs are on soft, good/soft…

On the other hand, Broome will relish the conditions and the ground may carry his speed all the way to the finish.

In a recent interview with “Express Sport”, the multiple major winner and one of the “most decorated” European Ryder Cuppers Tony Jacklin was strongly critical of Stenson, saying:

“Stenson’s decision makes a mockery of the matches. It’s the end of the Ryder Cup as we know it, it’s bound to be.

You cannot call it a credible event anymore, and you can say the same for the Presidents Cup now too. Once the teams involved are not represented by the strongest players and individuals, the credibility of the competition is spent.

The whole thing is screwed up. It’s all come down to money, how much of it the players can earn, and we’re only at the first round of it.

It’s a complete disaster and an extremely sad state of affairs. The LIV players are laughing all the way to the bank – they are having a honeymoon with all the money. But what is very different at this point in time is figuring out what the long-term consequences will be for golf’s officialdom, organizations like the R&A, the USGA, The Masters. All these institutions are affected by this crazy situation.”

They’ve got about 250 days until The Masters, the next Major championship, to sort all this out. Who’s going to be allowed to play in which events going forward, that’s the next question.”

    Regarding the players joining LIV:

“To be fair, I don’t blame the players. Why do we all work? For money, of course, and to be better off. I don’t blame them but the upshot of it all is that it puts the kybosh on the Ryder Cup and the Presidents Cup.”

That’s unbelievable news! He’s one of my favorite players and one of the most recognizable and respected golfers world-wide who’s in the in the twilight of his career. He had an opportunity to go out with style and class as a Ryder Cup captain…

But, then again, we should not be too judgmental of these athletes who, undoubtedly, are making free choices with their’s and their families best interest in mind. And, why shouldn’t they? After all, they’re only taking a cue from the leaders of the world’s two greatest democracies. First, a couple of months ago the then UK’s PM Boris Johnson makes a trip to Riyadh to meet with MBS and last week it was US President Joe Biden who made the trip, both went with hats-in-hand of course. Now, one needs to ask a very simple question: who has the leverage?…

“There is no aspiration in poor areas and it is seemingly impossible under the tories”

    SUNAK

Sunak was born on 12 May 1980 in Southampton[4][5] to Indian parents Yashvir and Usha Sunak.[6] He is the eldest of three siblings.[5] His father Yashvir was born and raised in the Colony and Protectorate of Kenya (present-day Kenya), while his mother Usha was born in Tanganyika (which later became part of Tanzania).[7] His grandparents were born in Punjab Province, British India, and migrated from East Africa with their children to the UK in the 1960s.[8] Yashvir was a general practitioner, and Usha was a pharmacist who ran a local pharmacy.[4][6][9]

Sunak attended Stroud School, a preparatory school in Romsey, Hampshire, and Winchester College, a boys’ independent boarding school, where he was head boy and the editor of the school paper.[10][11] He was a waiter at a curry house in Southampton during his summer holidays.[7][12] He read Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) at Lincoln College, Oxford, graduating with a first in 2001.[4][11] While he was still at university, he undertook an internship at Conservative Campaign Headquarters.[10]

In 2001, he was interviewed along with his parents for the BBC documentary Middle Classes: Their Rise and Sprawl,[13] during which he remarked,

‘I have friends who are aristocrats, I have friends who are upper class, I have friends who are working class… well, not working class”.[14] In 2006, he gained an MBA from Stanford University, where he was a Fulbright scholar’.[4][15][16]”

Should he become the PM, it will no longer be “seemingly impossible under the tories”, but rather impossible…

LIV can have Cameron “Joe Dirt” Smith, he’s not a factor in the overall PGA Tour’s scheme of things. Nobody cares. Stenson, however, would be news given that he’s a Euro Ryder Cup captain…

“Jay Monahan should be charged with restraint of trade!!…”

You may get your wish, raymo. US Department of Justice just launched an investigation against the PGA Tour for possible anti-trust violations. Although, the timing of the announcement of this investigation is rather peculiar given that it occurred just days prior to Joe Biden’s visit to the Kingdom, dubbed “Security for Oil” by the American media but that’s a separate issue…

“…shame the course is playing so easy though, yes it’s fun to see low scores but I look forward to The Open because I want to see carnage lol.”

It’s too weather dependent, like most link courses that are in The Open’s rotation. It’s a walk in the park for these guys this year. As of this writing, of the 83 players that have made the cut, 75 are at Even or better! 75!!!

    Mat Fitzpatrick.

Has that deceptive length, the right temperament, and now supreme confidence to succeed here. Hope he can pull off the double…
