May 12, 2023 at 21:43 in reply to: 5 Irish Racecourses offered deal by ARC for Media Rights #1647567
Chief Exec of the HRI has blasted the 5 breakaway racecourses and accused them of breaking confidentiality by publishing the details of the secret contract terms.
Suzanne Eade certainly knows how to mediate and calm the situation down, yes Suzanne just start slagging off the courses you should be calmly talking to and finding out what their issues are.
Also ARC have made a statement regarding a deal with the 5 racecourses:
Arc said: “Arena Racing Company and Sky Sports Racing are delighted that the opportunity to develop a partnership with the five United Irish Racecourses is now possible.“We welcome the prospect of engaging in the very near future in detailed discussions with UIR, Horse Racing Ireland and the Association of Irish Racecourses on the media rights for these five racecourses.
“We are excited at the prospect of establishing a significant, valuable and long-term partnerships.”
It could get interesting now as RMG will have offered a price for all the tracks and fixtures and they have not received what they have bid for.
I wonder if RMG will want to reduce the amount they are offering now.
I wonder if Arc will still want to buy Dundalk, I suppose if they think it’s worth it for 5 years with RMG, Doncaster survived with RMG until that deal ended in the 2000’s so they might buy it and play the waiting game let it trundle on until late 2020s then announce big changes if they buy it.
According to Irish Times the Dundalk sell off to Arc is off, Dundalk were not happy with the fixtures from the HRI but gave in and signed effectively ended any deal with ARC.
April 26, 2023 at 19:26 in reply to: 5 Irish Racecourses offered deal by ARC for Media Rights #1645545AIR will meet on 9 May and be asked to confirm to signing up to SIS and RMG until 2029.
The deal was agreed by the media rights last Friday and has been sent to all racecourses and it is hoped they will all agree with the SIS/RMG deal to keep Irish racing on Racing TV for a further 5 years.March 30, 2023 at 12:36 in reply to: 5 Irish Racecourses offered deal by ARC for Media Rights #1641855Racing Post reporting that the AIR Chief Executive has said they are not entertaining the ARC offer and it is now the sale of Dundalk to ARC which is thought to be delaying the signing of the rights to RMG/SIS.

Extremely interesting read the last link and with a new all weather track in Tipperary would Irish bosses concentrate the best fixtures there if Dundalk is sold to a non irish company like ARC.
March 27, 2023 at 14:45 in reply to: 5 Irish Racecourses offered deal by ARC for Media Rights #1641642Apologies I misread an article what it actually said was the big tracks and Dundalk, not the top five.

I have amended the original post.
March 26, 2023 at 08:50 in reply to: 5 Irish Racecourses offered deal by ARC for Media Rights #1641500I was wondering if ARC doesn’t get a deal signed to buy Dundalk and Dundalk stays with RMG if they would think about buying one of the five racecourses that might sign up and build a rival all weather track.
Sky News source says the Premier League could be back shortly as they want to finish the season to enable transfer window to open and funds to trickle down to the lower leagues and give the country a moral boost.
The article also mentions bringing back other sports including horse racing.
How worried is Nick Rust that the Cheltenham Festival aftermath is going to cast a pall over how the sport can go forward?

Los Angeles planning to ban all sports and concerts until well into 2021.
I wonder if the Americans will stand for their sports being cancelled for another year.
New York also planning to ban all sports until mid 2021 as well.

April 14, 2020 at 19:23 in reply to: Which courses cannot stage meetings behind closed doors? #1487320Most other sports are contact sports which makes it difficult for them to restart even behind closed doors, the most likely sports to restart are Golf, darts, horse racing, possibly tennis, f1 and athletics.
Football, rugby, cycling, boxing and basketball all have to hope the social distancing is reduced.
April 14, 2020 at 11:05 in reply to: Which courses cannot stage meetings behind closed doors? #1487307The racing post says the plan is that Newcastle and Lingfield will stage day after day meetings and the jockeys and trainers will stay in hotels to avoid travelling around.
Not sure how that works for the horses though.
Why does the government have to get a grip they have advised the public what to do what more can they do it is now up to the public to take the advice on board.
Has every government in the world got to “get a grip”.
The country needs to go into complete lockdown immediately.
And what happens at the end when everyone comes out of it are you suggesting it will just disappear?
If there is a lockdown what do you think will happen on the day it is over and 50 million people all head to empty shops to stock up?
Do you really thing British people will heed a lockdown they will riot first.
You cannot lock everyone down forever this virus might be a new norm at some point people have to live their lives.
The virus wipes out most over 60 so being 59 I’m safe but racing crowds will be at least 50% smaller next year which means More room to move around at the big meetings so all good really
The two sticking points in the itv contract saga have been revealed.
Firstly the racecourses want itv to put all the “crown jewels” on itv and not itv4, itv have said they cannot guarantee any meeting including Cheltenham or Ascot will go on itv, especially during a world cup year.
Secondly itv want all the digital rights to the racecourses.
Do not schedule a race 8 minutes after the previous one when it’s 4 miles.
Scheduled flat/AW races against jumps then make the flat race appropriate ie a 5f takes 1 min to run so make the next race 4 mins after.
Time the race accordingly to the length of the race.
Maybe on a busy Saturday have a gap around 3.00 so if any previous races have gone off late there is a gap to catch up.
You cannot not don’t rtv bash, RMG chose to bid for racecourses it could not cope with and you have the stupid situation of a flat fixture on one channel and 4 or 5 jumps on the other.
Racecourses should be in contact with each other then if a race is delayed the other meetings are aware of it and can make appropriate changes.
