Not really – sometimes the programme book offers little option but to turn the horse out again quickly, though I haven’t checked in this instance.
That said, different stables have very different agendas and that’s probably much to do with it.
On a side note, interesting to see Dale Gibson getting rides for this outfit.
"What also surprised me was that Jim "Know it all" McGrath failed to correct him either time"
Perhaps Jimbo is losing it to.
A sharp and perceptive initial post, Seabird.
Most horses ever to start at 200/1 in conditions events (usually on a Sunday) while racking up a nice liitle earner in ‘appearance money’ for himself.
Any other details on when this ‘new’ service will begin or how wide-ranging their remit is i.e spreads, exchanges, fixed odds etc…or just what some of their credentials are?
Many thanks
Very true Reet.
And the confesion by Phil Smith that they (the BHA handicappers) might adjust (or fudge, in other words) a chase or hurdle mark so as it is halfway between what is there now in cases where one or the other is deemed unfair is nothing more than an admission of severe incompetence.
The huge number of horses that are supposedly marginally better on either turf or all weather than the other on the Flat, according to BHA ratings, is ridiculous in the extreme and just goes to show that the handicappers have either little understanding of what they are doing or need to constantly tinker to justify the little that they actually have to do. Or both.
Looks like there are plenty of unsubstantiated quotes aleady flying about that the marketing men for Cockney Rebel will use to their advantage…no point building up his stallion CV on official, Timeform or Racing Post Ratiings if the lazy soundbite sponges have already regurgitated just what they have asked to be told….now lets subtract that official wfa allowance he was deemed to have received at Newmarket in the spring from his likely end of year International Classification rating and see what he is really worth………thought not. Doesn’t make him much, does it?
