Has anyone heard any comments from Soumillon after this race? I always like to hear jockey comments after being first time aboard…

    Flyingbolt

: I think Blunkett is spot on. What this horse achieved was phenomenal yet he is never mentioned anymore.

Of recent years I thought Ghostzapper was an incredible horse.

I believe that 2000 Guineas winner King’s Best had his name adjusted twice to deal with that apostrophe.

    1999: http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/raci … 33747.html

A PUNTER was celebrating an early Christmas present yesterday after backing a horse which paid a Tote win dividend of pounds 916.40 to a pounds 1 stake.

Coralpha beat 29 rivals in the first race at Navan on Saturday at a starting price of 33-1. Racegoers were stunned again when told of the Tote returns. Coralpha, trained in Co. Carlow by Pat Fahy, also paid a place dividend of pounds 118.40.

The five-year-old won by two lengths from Just Two, a 5-1 joint-favourite, with another 33-1 shot, Tisrabraq, back in third. Tisrabraq paid pounds 236.90 for a place. The computer straight forecast paid pounds 213.99.

But the win dividend failed to break the Irish record. A Tote Ireland spokesman said the record is pounds 927.00, from Naas in November last year. In Britain in recent years, the highest win dividend is around pounds 270, the Tote said yesterday.

I thought I remembered that a couple of years ago in a mid-week Irish race a horse at 20/1 won, but there was no win dividend as nobody had put any money into the pool on him.

Technically odds of "not defined" – beat that!

Irish based punters go through Malta.

    Why?

If the cause was the operating system, browser or broadband connection then surely all sites would cause problems.

Not necessarily. The JavaScript language they’ve used to build the new site has performance issues depending on browser version etc.

For instance I’m on Firefox 3.0.5, Win XP and 8MB Broadband and have zero speed issues on the new site.

To those having problems with the website, what browser and operating system do you have? Windows XP (WinXP) and Internet Explorer 6 (IE6) or IE7? What broadband speed?

A Black Swan won today at 999/1!

I keep hearing examples like this. I disagree. When Taleb describes Black Swans, I understood them to be not only improbable, but so completely improbable that you could have never have expected them based on all the knowledge that you have had available to you.

I heard the result before I watched the video. Can’t understand why his performance is being underplayed. A most impressive performance; he looks to have improved again and I think could very well be the Arc winner this year now, never mind the King George.

40-1 trained by Dutrow for IEAH (like Big Brown). Many players are suspicious…

To take things at a bit of a tangent, this is something I’d like to understand: who actually owns racing data?

For instance, do I need permission to publish basic racing results on a website? If so, from who and how much? When does racing info go from being public fact to proprietary knowledge (i.e. when beaten lengths calculated by someone are used)?

If I’m watching a race and I publish on my blog the final finishing positions, is that technically breaking some kind of data ownership?

What if we all did it i.e. a communal results site where the results data is entered by us, people who watch racing?

I know the bookmakers had some sort of legal case that I think they won about racecards. What was the actual result of that judgement and does it apply to results also?
