Hiya Reetpetite, welcome to the forum! Hope you continue to post – we’re harmless really!

Good luck to your daughter! Do you still have the ex-racehorse? Any chance any of us might remember him/her?

Yes, we still have her and our bank balance is the poorer for it  ! Her racing name was Surrey Downs Girl. She didn’t achieve anything in her short racing career. According to the trainer, she enjoyed the work but not the racing life. We have watched a couple of her races via the "At The Races" archive – not impressive . Her father (or should I say sire) was Lake Coniston who I believe wasn’t bad in his day.

NHS Payroll Officer – hateful job since some bright spark installed the new NHS computer system. It was obviously never trialled on a Trust with 14,000.00 employees :( .

Hello new lady member here :) . I’ve been reading this forum for a while now but only recently plucked up the courage to join  .

I don’t know a lot about racing but I’ve been on a steep learning curve for the last few years since my daughter decided she wanted to be a jockey. We bought an ex racehorse from a small time Newmarket trainer and when she went to see the horse and see if it was suitable, the trainer put her through her paces. A few ride outs on the gallops and she was hooked.

She recently completed her NVQ1 at the Northern Racing College (she tried the British Racing School and hated it) and is currently on placement with a Newark based trainer. Fingers crossed, things are going well :) .

I enjoy reading all your comments and continue to learn from them. Keep up the good work!
