I have worked for various bookmakers including Hills, Stanleys and several independent bookies and logging customers is standard practice. Obviously now with CCTV it is far more sophisticated than in the past.

The kind of customers the big boys want is the yankee.lucky 15 merchants and they hate sizeable win and each way singles.

I also worked for a well known credit bookmaker and every shop knew every one of us that worked there and some of the subterfuge we had to use to get on was laughable. Most ordinary punters have no idea of the difficulty getting on if you are even mildly successful.
I had my ladbrokes credit account closed because of a £30 e/w double!! And that is just the tip of the iceberg.

It is actually fun sometimes to get on when you are knwn in a shop or to a bookmaker!! Its all part of the game!

    Hi Fryern
You are entitled to your opinion and I hope the horse proves me wrong but I won’t be swayed from thinking its dodgy and the fact that its never fallen can be seen from two viewpoints
    1 Its a sound jumper
2 The horse looks after itself and is never out of its "comfort zone".

But like I say I am open to eating the humble pie!!

I am sorry but I just have to comment on this time thing!!
There is no way on this planet you can say that horse A is better than horse B because it ran a race years apart in a faster time!! I love stats and trends but clockwatching will get you in the poor horse because every race is run different and circumstances such as wind ground early pace and numerous other factors can change a race and a result!!
I know I am rambling but its one of my bugbears that people cannot and will not see whats in front of their eyes!!
We all try to predict results and how horses run and the main reason we get it wrong(some more than others) is because of jockeys, ground, wind, early pace, track etc.If we didn’t get it wrong there would be no bookies!! If Timeform was correct every race then every bookie in the country would soon go skint!!
Okay rant over and anyway its just my opinion!

I still fancy the Tony Martin horse if it turns up!! Lochan Lacha by the way,it has form with Oscar Time (2nd Irish National) and Ballytrim but hey what do I know? Apart from the fact its 28 on betfair and I am on at 75.

But Mobaasher I am afraid has the dreaded squiggle in my book cos it regularly in good quality races runs on when the race is all over.I have followed this horse since it finished third to Katchit in the Triumph Hurdle and I think the horse is definitely dodgy!!

I agree TAPK. She ran like a stayer not a Guineas horse and come Lingfield we will see a different filly!!

To be honest I was at Kempton and backed Bellvano and I think it was just plainly not good enough!!!
As we have seen since Menorah is a tough nut to crack and I am not one of AP’s greatest fans but saw nothing wrong with his ride on Bellvano that day!

Have to agree with Moe on this one.I think AP gave DPI a very un-McCoylike ride!! He was sympathetic and calm and never asked a serious question until after the last really!! I am not a huge fan of AP’s but this was a terrific ride and one of the quietest I have seen him give.
But it does help if the horse is going particularly well!!

And as for BA I think it has ran a great race and the jockey gave it a terrific ride and was probably the moral winner but Ladbrokes et al don’t pay out on moral winners unfortunately

Here is one to throw in the mix!!!
If he decides to send it over keep an eye out for Lochan Lacha of Tony Martin’s.He has been known to send a horse or two over and picked off some good handicaps!! I have backed it at 55 and 50 on Betfair so hope it turns up at least!!

I would also give chances to Merigo and Poker Di Sivola too!

Ladbrokes Hills and Corals decide every race every day what price the favourite is so manipulation of prices is not particular limited to big races on Saturdays or just to big meetings.
I have worked for independent credit bookmakers that are able to manipulate the prices of horses by sending money to the track and the big three do this daily and probably every race every day so to complain about prices shortening just before the Grand National is just seeing the tip of the iceberg!!
It happens all the time and is only highlighted at big meetings!!
At least in recent years betfair and the like have created a market that can reflect the real prices of horses but now even those markets are manipulated by bookmakers!
It is a complex situation that takes some understanding and most if not all of us are not in possession of all the info but IMO it is a situation that we are not able to change because of the volume of bets and the amount of money the big three have/take allows them to affect the prices of any given horse on any given day!!

I said to my wife after the last"McCoy will not let this get beat" and to be honest I think the horse was so brave too!!
As far as Sports Personality Of The Year is concerned surely you have to have a personality to win that??
AP is a terrific professional but surely he lacks in the personality stakes! But then again to shout myself down the SPOTY is a misnomer it should be called Sports Popularity Of The Year!! If it was done on personality then Frankie would have won it before now!!

Once again though great horse great ride and it did bring a tear to my eye to see AP emotional!!

the best thing to do then is bet with bookmakers that offer Best price Guaranteed!!
I always do and to be honest wouldnt consider doing otherwise.
Sometimes its best to find ways round the system rather than getting them to change the system which in this instance is the case.
The bookies are never gonna change the way they do things so find a way round it and make it work in your favour.
