I dont really punt anymore as feel racing is too corrupt.
Did you see the ride on Mr Walhs, come on now, that was unfortunately just terrible.
The equivalent of me showing up for work 6 hours late….
Lads,
Mr M Walsh at Gowran Park on Wickham Street
Absolutely shocking.
Honestly its a shame jockeys get away with this.
Very very dissapointing to see this in our sport.
For me Mr Walsh should now either
A) Be banned for 2 months
B) License revolked until passes remedial riding class.
I know this seems incredibly harsh but that was laughable, I watched it and couldnt believe my eyes.
How can we expect to attract spectators to our sport with that sort of class of riding?
Did anyone else see it?
Benny B – Saying you would like to see me riding really has no worth in this argument,
Do I work out riding every day? Is it my profession? No
Why would you like to see someone ride that hasnt a clue how to?
However if you ask me to do a job which is within my profession and one of which I practise everyday I would be hopefull of doing a top notch job.
The fact of the matter remains that these jockeys are professional jockeys, that is their job, that is what they do day in day out, so asking myself to ride really doesnt make sense when it is not my profession.
If you claim to be a professional at a certain sport/job then you really need to maintain a certain level of standard, no one is asking for perfection, but what we tend to see day in day out verges "Sometimes" on laughable. Too often our sport is dragged down by imcompetance
You made a comment that it is a very difficult job. Is it so difficult that Seb Saunders(clip just shown) shouldnt of won on that horse?? Is it so difficult that Sam Thomas took wrong course at Folkstone a year ago?? You could stay here all day and name incidents where jockeys have done things that in my opinion cannot be accounted for and really begger belief.
I suppose the problem I have with Spencer is he is great to watch but not good for the heart rate hahaha
I admit when he pulls it off he is very good to watch.
AP Would kill the horse!!!!
I dont rate Tidal Bay anymore this season, too many excuses, just dont think he is in love with the game this season, rest him until October, bring him back to Down Royal with Kato. Break could do him the world of good, no doubt however they will run him in Betfair Bowl
I dont really back anymore so all my views are talking from nuetral viewpoint, still annoys me to see idiot jockeys
The reason for him running on was he got second wind down the hill. O Regan wasnt pushing at top of hill as was actually going to pull up before he got second wind, I dont think you can blame O Regan for that, was just a freak of a run.
O Regan wasnt taking it easy on purpose, he was actually going to pull him up, so I think that race is best written off.
What did you think of Spencer on Papillio in the last ? Surely he was to blame for horse not finishing in first three, no /yes?
No that wouldnt be my thought, my thoughts behind backing @ 3/1 is more got to do with market confidence, obviously If I back a horse I think its the best horse. If a 7/4 shot of mine gets beat I will gladly say it is my fault for picking the horse as not best on the day, my point is I find myself more and more finding fault with jockeys for horses not winning. For example I backed Moneytrix that day, he was the best horse and it was the jockeys fault he lost. But another examply, I backed Kasbah Bliss, that in no way was the jockeys fault, it was my fault for believing he was best in field.
For me D O Regan is a fantastic jockey, his style is un matched and he is perfectly made for Johnson horses. I have full confidence in his ability, I remeber he rode a horse (Cool Operator I think) earlier in season which reason should of been carried out by a H Knight horse but O Regan did incredibly well and kept on course and ended up winning.
O Regan is one I have full confidence in and once again if horse lost I would not be blaming O Regan as full confidence he is v v v v v compatent
You will never win them all but helps when you can blame yourself for selection rather than balaming a jockey for not having a brain, its bad enough loosing but when its a jockeys fault you really do feel robbed.
Unfortunately bad jockeys are out there riding day in day out, you cannot avoid them so I dont punt big anymore.
Maybe we should start handicapping horses by jockey ability, now that would be interesting.
Yeah I can understand your point on Spencer, he is annoying like that, when he is going well he is an absolute fantastic jockey but unfortunately you dont know what Spencer you are getting.
I would rather a jock like Murtagh, not flashy, not fashionable to watch in his style but he gets the job done.
Another I forgot to mention is D Condon over chases, over hurdles he is ok but over fences no no no no no, I saw him one day ride Moneytrix at Ayr, he basically got him beat and could not forgive him for that, he either doesnt have a brain or is scared of fences, I dont know if anyone saw the race but it was very very bad, id rather avoid
These days we see more bad rides than good rides, but the jockeys really dont have to care, you cant get banned for a bad ride, and as I said before there seems to be a bad ride every day so its old news before you know it. Yes they have a hard job but I can tell you many people have harder jobs and worse paid
I think Murtagh is top class now I will explain why;
If I put 200 pound on a horse Murtagh is riding, I know for a fact, well as best as I can that my horse will be ridden well and if it looses 99.9% of the time it will not be Murtaghs fault. I have full confidence in Murtagh, If he gets it wrong I would forgive him because he rarely rarely gets it wrong, by the way Im not just talking about O Brien Mounts, Im talking about him in handicaps etc.
For me its just such a shame jockeys out there can charge 100-200 pound for doing a 2/3 min job which a lot of the time they do really really really bad
Its just unfortunate these days that it is not a case of picking the best horse.
More and more the best horse is loosing because a bad jockey is riding.
Pundits always talk about form, should we now start talking about jockey form?
There you go
There you go
Just in the last there, on the flipside, evidence of what a great ride by McCoy, totally outrode Brennan.
Doing my nut, no havnt backed anything "yet".
Waiting for bumper at Clonmel
God I cant stand Francome.
For me there is no excuse for that.
I personally feel Seb should of been banned for 6 months for that.
You see if you start introducing bans like this you will put the fear of god into jockeys and they will stop this mucking around and ride properly, then you will also get horses properly handicapped, and also stop some of the corruption.
I think it is fair to say horse racing is corrupt, anyone here who disagress, well I dont know what to say, its corrupt.
Racing would be better off without jockeys who do this, new viewers to the sport, if that was the first race they saw, they would probably laugh and never watch the sport again.
Introduce proper bans and then we can clean this corrupt sport up, or maybe they dont want to??
Mark
I never back horses at odds of 3/1 or greater, as for me horse racing is dodgy enough without having market confidence, I have honestly never seen Ruby give a favourite a bad ride.
Hills gets beaten on countless odds on and short priced favourites which to me is sign of a bad jockey
Durack is Amazing
Greene is just bad, Im sorry he is just bad.
How do you feel about the ride of K Ghunowa there at Southwell.
Lets look at the facts here, this jockey was riding a horse with over 400k placed on him, his ride has lost people 400k, Yes the horse did not find much when asked but was the manner in which he was over confident, do you think it is ok for him to get away without a fine, any action? Just interested to hear your view.
For me, he should be banned for 14 days and have to then pass course.
