Does anyone know if Gigginstown House Stud actually own any mares? I have noticed they all their horses seem to be geldings. As a very big spending outfit to national hunt racing you ought to think that they will have a few mares so that they can send to very best jump stallions such as Presenting, Fleminsfirth and Yeats so they can have some homegrown horses in a few years time. If they dont own any mares I think it is such a no brainer for Mr O’Leary what have they got against mares?
Beat Hollow has had some winners in novice hurdles and bumpers recently including Cinders and Ashes and Hollow Tree I wonder if he will be offered to NH breeders over the coming years. I also like to see Tiger Hill become a jumps sire as well he has had a few bumper runners too.
I am really quite suprise that Yeats is stading as a flat stallion in 2012. How long will it be before he will stand at Coolmore NH. Bearing in mind that Yeats is a jumps stallion in all but name just look at the number of NH mares he has covered already.
Can anyone tell me what has happened to Tus Nua? This daughter of Galileo won both her bumpers last summer but I cannot find a price for her for the champion bumper. Surely a dual bumper winner with a 100 percent record should have a price for the champion bumper.
One thing that has baffled me so far during the 2010/11 jumps season is there is a lack of top quality mares at the highest level. Why can flat racing produce top quality fillies and mares that can beat the colts at group 1 level year after year but over the jumps we cannot produce any decent mares that can beat the geldings in grade 1 races or at the championships at Cheltenham or Aintree is there any reason for this? Jump racing does need its very own Goldikova. I am not talking about the next Dawn Run just some need quality mares that can beat the best geldings about at the top level.
Are there any up and coming mares at novoce mares to look out for in the coming months? What has happend to promising bumper horse Tus Nua? Why is she not listed in the Ante Post betting for the Champion Bumper even though she won both here bumpers?
Is there any decent horses on the flat that could make a decent novice or juvenile hurdeler for the forthcoming season. We know about casual conquest which is suprising to see a group 1 winner been planned to run over hurdles. What are the chances of seeing any of these flat horses appearing at next years festival?

Does anyone think that we will ever see Aidan O’Brien train jumpers again like he did with Istabraq 10 years ago. I would love to see him have a runner of 2 at the cheltenham festival again. Why did he exclusively train on the flat in the first place? Perhaps JP should get his chequebook out to try to entice Aidan O’Brien to train in the winter code. How would Aidan done had he stayed with training jumpers from 2002 onwards? Would he trained a cheltenham gold cup winner or 2 or maybe finish ahead of Paul Nicholls in the trainers title? A few months ago while reading his stable tour in the Racing Post he has a 3 year old colt by Milan called Table Mountain, a sign of things to come perhaps?
Now Enrique is now the proud sire of a champion hurdle winner in Binocular surely a stud in England or Ireland should snap him up now so he can become a fully fledged jumps sire. Come on sunnyhill stud or Wood Farm stud get your chequebooks out!!! If he does come to a stud here or across the irish sea will we see many mare be covered by him. Will Enrique sire a champion chase or a Gold Gup winner in the next 4/5 years?
March 30, 2010 at 20:47 in reply to: Which flat horse would you like to have seen over jumps? #286593I would of liked to have seen Vinnie Roe run in a champion hurdle he is by definte article who is now a jumps sire. Another horse who may make a good hurdle judging by bloodlines is Schiaparelli who’s dam is by Old Vic. He will make a cracking jumps sire in the future. I once heard a rumour that Phillp Hobbs was going to train Mr Dinos in juvinile hurdle races I dont know how true that was.
I am actually gutted that changingoftheguard has been sold overseas I would have liked Magnier sell him to his best pal JP McManus I thought he might of made a decent juvenile hurdler and would like to him aimed for the Triumph Hurdle.
Is they any chance that coolmore could sell some of their horses to JP McManus/Jonjo O’neill so we can see them run at cheltenham next march.
July 3, 2009 at 23:39 in reply to: This is what I really don’t like about Sheikh Mo / Godolphin #237699I know Godolphin can go on spending sprees buying mutiple number of horses but they dont buy horses until the end of the turf season for the following year. Has anyone known godolphin buy horses halfway through a season? Its the first time that I have known them to. Godophin buying horses midway through the season is like admitting failure. Does anyone think that they are panicking a little? Who are thet going to buy next? The way that there season are going dont be suprised if they start buying up in september when all their plans continue to go belly-up.
Maybe godolphin need to employ a proven bloodstock agent for their future purchases someone who has experience and has a proven track record and whos past purchases has been a resounding sucess. Maybe Shiekh Mohammed should employ Anthony Bromley to spot their future purcahses after all what does he have to lose.
One thing that does baffle me how does York manage to attract 40,000+ racegoers on John Smiths Cup day despite the fact there are no group races on the card. How does Chester manage to attract 40,000 for its one and only sunday fixture in late july despite the quality of racing being not as good as its May meeting. Also Cartmel has no problem attracting racegoers to its Bank Holiday fixtures as well. So why does Nottingham racecourse struggle to attract crowds of 2,000 despite being in a very good catchment area and had very good transport links to the rest of the midlands and the north of england.
The Jonjo O’Neill stable must rank as jump racings answer to Godolphin its a stable with plenty of money invested in it but nothing in the way of results. If JP wants horses to compete with Paul Nicholls he should ditch Jonjo and consider trying to persuade Aidan O’Brien to train jumpers again like he did with Istabraq. Maybe a financial incentive from Mcmanus may be enough. I love to see Aidan O’Brien to staddle horses at Cheltenham and Aintree. I was a bit disapointed to hear in this mornings racing post that Hebridean is going to be trained over hurdles by Paul Nicholls. I love to see a succesful JP McManus, Aidan O’Brien, Tony McCoy partnership at a future cheltenham festival.
I have also noticed that Acapulco is now trained by Edward O’Grady. I wonder what are the chances of seeing him run in the Supreme Novices?
Any news about Alfie Flits making his belated debut over hurdles. If so, perhaps we might see him appear in a novices hurdle as early as the Charlie Hall meeting at Wetherby and then if thrown in the deep end like he has been done on the flat. Maybe we might see him entered in big races such as the Fighting Fifth, Boylesports International and the Christmas Hurdle.
As the flat season is starting to draw to a close and the jumps season proper starts towards the end of october. All eyes will be on that all-conquering ditcheat stable of Paul Nicholls. After a remarkable season in 2007/08 that included 13 Grade 1 winners, over £4 million in prize money in the uk and ireland (remarkable by national hunt standards) and a 1-2-3 finish in the Cheltenham Gold Cup it will be interesting to see if those high standards of last year will be exceeded. Does anyone think Paul Nicholls will emulate what Aidan O’Brien has done on the flat and dominate most top races. Aidan O’Brien so far has won 20 Group 1 races and with the flat season still far from over that number will be exceed. Will Paul Nicholls train 20 Grade 1 winners in the forthcoming season. He has already stated that he wants to become champion trainer both sides of the irish sea. What he does have is great strengh in depth in 3 mile chasers. Apart from Denman and Kauto Star theres also the likes of Neptune Collonges and also Big Bucks. There must be at least 6 or 7 staying chasers capable of winning the King George VI Chase and the Gold Cup. He has no shortage of novice chasers as well – Nevada Royale, Thetotherone.Gansey etc. If all his novice chasers do well then theres going to be fireworks in 2009/10. There are plenty of great 2 mile chasers and his hurdlers both 2 mile and also staying hurdlers are also improving too. He could run any of his horses in Grade 1 races anywhere in the uk, ireland and even autueil. So he could get near the number of group 1 winners that Aidan O’Brien has managed on the flat. Does anyone think that Paul Nicholls has modelled his stable on ballydolye? I have already got butterfiles in my stomach for the jumps season I cannot wait.
