What are the chances of Enrique the sire of Binocular becoming a jumps sire from 2011 onwards? He has done next to nothing as a flat stallion in france and yet to produce a group winner of any note. Surley his future lies as a jumps sire. I am actaully suprised that Enrique has not been bought by a stud in Ireland or Shorpshire. He will make a decent jumps sire in my opinion and I am sure he will have more than his fare sire of NH mares to cover.
January 20, 2010 at 17:19 #271118Will British and Irish jumps breeders send mares to France in any great numbers?
The Irish have Quevega’s sire Robin Des Champs now who’s new blood in the system so they’d be unlikely to send anything over and IMO the French breeders are still looking at Sholokhov and Black Sam Bellamy amongst the young sires, in addition to Califet (sired two of the top 3yo Hurdlers in France amongst others from his first crop).
As for Enrique in addition to Binocular over jumps he’s also sired G3 winner Avenue Marceau, listed winner Troque, G3 winner Slim Pear although he has had far more opportunities to produce a genuine top quality horse than most would get.
January 22, 2010 at 15:25 #271429We have an Enrique foal out of a NH mare in the field now; I suppose it’s a yearling now, born June 09.
March 30, 2010 at 21:21 #286601Now Enrique is now the proud sire of a champion hurdle winner in Binocular surely a stud in England or Ireland should snap him up now so he can become a fully fledged jumps sire. Come on sunnyhill stud or Wood Farm stud get your chequebooks out!!! If he does come to a stud here or across the irish sea will we see many mare be covered by him. Will Enrique sire a champion chase or a Gold Gup winner in the next 4/5 years?
