Another sad loss at Catterick … RIP
Theatre Queen was a very talented and quirky mare. Once she set off she seemed keen and her rider (also her trainer) didn’t rush her in this 4 mile race. She had just tagged on to the back of the field when she came down. It was a horrible fall and I feared the worse immediately. Her rider/trainer is an experienced amateur and he is devastated by her loss … there are many tributes on Facebook … she is a sad loss to all concerned RIP Theatre Queen
That’s so sad as she was only 3 years old …

Just scrolled down and see it’s on RUK.
Is now mentioned in RP – report and race follow-up
Thatsharib a 12 year old veteran of 61 races is shown as being pulled up and I’m assuming he is sadly the one with the obviously broken leg. The screens were up as the field past him on the run-in but the tv side was not screened away …
What’s the BF forum please?
RE: RP analyst – agree thumbs down!
I repeat:
I agree with the comment: I think as racing enthusiasts we all want to know what happens to the animals that bring us our enjoyment. That sums up my thoughts and is my opinion …
If that’s "making a mountain out of a molehill" in your opinion then so be it …
We shall have to agree to disagree.
Don’t be so ridiculous!!! You are just SO far from understanding me: I’ve been going to point-to-points since I was little and I am officially involved in them. I watch racing as often as I can – that’s why I subscribe to Racing UK. I would NEVER want it banned and I am not in with the animal rights lot. There is nothing better to watch than a beautiful thoroughbred soaring over a fence – as Rasharrow was doing so well until his last fence.
I agree with the comment: I think as racing enthusiasts we all want to know what happens to the animals that bring us our enjoyment. That sums up my thoughts.
Rasharrow’s fate was very obvious – poor, poor horse – and it wouldn’t have taken much for Zoey to have been informed (does she not watch the races from other courses?).
Agree with ToneLoc re Racing Post. Is this the site?
http://www.racehorsememories.co.uk
It’s not been updated for May.
Irish meetings are very difficult to get info about – I remember sometime ago a complete outsider was still leading in a chase with 2 or 3 to jump – he fell exhausted and I never did find out if he got up. He certainly didn’t appear as a runner again.
Sadly he did collapse and die on his way back to the paddock. RP have updated the info eventually.
Thanks for info re scratchings. RP don’t always put dead – even when the horse has been fatally injured on the course – I’ve had to email the course to find out quite a few times. Still say Zoe should have mentioned it. People like me who only saw the reply didn’t know what the man in the booth said following the actual race. To be fair they usually do add a postscript on the replay.
I didn’t see the race live – just the reply and it was Zoe’s after race comments which truely infuriated me – she should have acknowledged Rasharrow.
I appreciate what was said re connections and vets and obviously their priority is the welfare of the horse but commentators have a view of the whole course and why can’t they communicate with the ATR/RUK "link" people to pass on info – saying thankfully the horse has got up or sadly the horse is still down …
The RP used to carry a scratchings column – why don’t they anymore?
ATR and RUK should then employ someone to seek out info – they have no difficulty in obtaining info re betting (which I personally don’t care about at all) – I watch racing because of the horses … in Rasharrow’s sad case it was obvious that he was fatally injured.
Bad news – I assumed he was going OK and would recover. Sad for all concerned.
Sorry that’s no excuse and it does annoy me! ATR; Racing UK and Racing Post are all specialist channels/websites which Joe Public won’t bother with and they should report accurately – if they don’t I usually email the racecourse to ask after the welfare of the horse and most reply. It really infuriates me when the presenters yak on about prices etc and ignore informing about the welfare of the horse – sometimes they are OK and it’s great when they show them up on their feet and the crowd react in appreciation. These people are on the spot and can and should get the information asap. Racing Post SHOULD have the info one way or another on their details for each race.
I saw the replay and it annoyed me too that the commentator’s only comment was about hampering the horse behind. Even worse that Zoe’s follow up never acknowledged the fate of poor Rasharrow and offer condolences to connections who surely must have been mortified by such an awful injury.
