I thought a “spigot” was a rather small thing not the tall thing seen left in the ground yesterday … I don’t actually understand what it is … and what is it made from? What might have happened if a horse had stood on it directly ie could it have gone through the hoof or leg??? I can’t believe no-one spotted this and removed it …
There were a lot of nasty falls today, any one of which could have resulted in a fatal injury … another horse fell badly at the same fence almost simultaneously as poor Rezorbi yet he got up straight away … I hope things go better for the next 3 days …
I’m sure she was gone as she hit the ground …
3 winners and a second for the Ricci/Mullins but now this loss … I think junior Mullins was on board … I didn’t see what actually happened but I saw him being taken out of the race after a fence so did it happen on the flat?
Another hideous end … poor young chap fell last time out at Cheltenham as well … he was running well to that point … RIP
Hideous fall – looked instant … poor mare … she fell at Cheltenham in December but was running a blinder today … so sad for all concerned. RIP The Govaness
Yes … imagine how those close to him felt … horrible …
Poor Pandorica – raced a lot of times (50+) – flat and then hurdles. She seemed to land on her shoulder so I’m not surprised that’s what her injury was. I’d only just switched racing on as that race started … I soon switched off … RIP sweetheart
I was just about to post – you beat me to it! So sad to see this – his 75th start – to think he’s been 74 times to the track and returned and not this time. RIP old soldier.
Lovely photo … he was still going well when he took an absolutely dreadful somersaulting fall … so so sad … RIP Jammy (named after his breeders two sons Jack and Jamie)
and yes I could see that the horse had very serious injuries but I couldn’t say whether it was leg/s, back, pelvis … but evidently Ex RubyLight could … so I thought he/she had got another source of info that’s all …
I didn’t report this topic – I reported that it had been reported and no action had yet been taken …
This topic was reported HOURS ago and is still on …
No way should the jockey be being slated … he did his best … and how do you actually know what the horse’s injuries were?? are you just guessing? I hope there is a statement soon about what went wrong with the welfare system. I have emailed the course but no reply yet … it should NEVER been allowed to happen. Thankfully the other fallers got up OK – heaven help them if they’d needed the vet …
The horse’s connections must have been even more distraught to see no help coming immediately … commiserations to them, in particular his lad/lass …Terrible for all concerned …
The stewards are looking into this incident … it was a TOTAL disgrace … poor poor horse … where was the vet and the screens??? I can’t see why anyone can be saying negative things about the jockey – have you tried to calm a struggling injured horse?? The other posts I’ve seen on other sites are all praising him …
Very unusual for one obstacle to claim two victims in the same race … poor chap RIP Bingo
Unbelievably horrible … looking the clear winner and then … gone … poor lad and his connections. Apparently Racing UK saw fit to replay the finish … I didn’t see it and won’t be watching his sad end … RIP brave warrior – you deserved better
