Probably Jodami, in that he was the first example of a horse I followed from his novice days right to the top.
Well done to the man who got the answer. You are the first person in years, going all the way back to the old Channel 4 forum to get it right.
Pendil, Bula and Killiney got me into racing. I remember crying uncontrollably when Killiney was killed in action.
A great period in racing history, and people should show Dick Pitman more respect when broadcasting with him.
Personally I find this constant carping about bookies by the racing media etc rather tiresome.
If I have a bet its my choice. If the jockey gets the tacttics wrong its my fault. If the trainer has not primed the horse for the race its my fault.
Where do bookies come in to it?
More so than ever, with exchanges providing total transparency, it is absurd to continue criticising bookies.
I am a punter, and grew up on McCririckisms about the old enemey etc.
Without bookmakers there would be no racing. It is not bookies who are crooked!
Timmy Murphy is the total finished article as far as jumps racing goes.
His heir is now Denis O’Regan.
Graham Lee not far behind.
Jockeys like these do NOT abuse horses.
Timmy got in trouble when younger for excessive use, but as soon as he got the right mentoring his talent shone through.
I would rather watch jockeys like these take care of horses than some of the abuse less talented jocks mete out on their mounts. Remeber, there is always another day!
I find Alistair Down a rather pathetic individual.
As our young men give their lives and limbs for god and country in Iraq and Afghanistan, we have to put up with his sel fpiteous nonsense about having a drink problem. Yeah, mate you really look like it.
And his ponderous, flowery 6th form A Level writing style makes me want to chuck.
Get a grip racing fraternity – Al Down is an attantion seeking media tart.
Next subject!
Hi,
What ones did you go for in the end?
