Right you lot, get in the chat room…there’s nothing on the TV so what better have you to do? Actually, don’t answer that, I don;t want to know!
Floating in there now (I know it’s a Friday night…I have no friends
Are you the only Classics graduate leading horses around the parade rings of grim northern gaffs?
Ha ha…quite possibly. I do believe a 2:1 BA (Hons) from Durham in Classics was the best way to get into racing…
It was great to meet you all at last.
Sorry I didn’t manage to say bye befopre I left but we were away pretty sharpish after the second last to try and beat the traffic.
We must have another meeting soon!
x
Again, as a somewhat misguided scholar of the Classics for the past few years, I had spotted Xaipete a long time ago. But no-one believed me!! It drove me nuts…:-D
So thank you for reminding me that I’m not going crazy and it really was from the Greek meaning ‘greetings’ in the ‘hello’ sense of the word. Also an imperative if I remember rightly but don’t quote me on that. I burned my books when I left Uni so have no reference point!!
Also remember that the e’s in remis and velis are long so pronounced Ray-mis Vay-lis-kway
Ah I knew there was a reason why I read Classics at Uni…
Quote: from cormack15 on 9:42 am on Jan. 26, 2007[br]OK here’s the plan.
Lucinda Russell and Peter Buchanan have kindly agreed to meet up with us before racing (thanks Lekha!) and the best time for them is 11.45 (an hour and a quarter before first race) as they have a busy day later.
We’ll meet outside the weighing room and then retire to the bar. Anyone who wants a contact in case of problems pm me your mobile no and I’ll pass my mobile number on to you.
Is that OK?
Slight alteration to the plans since Lucinda now only has runners in the first and second last.
To meet with Lucinda we will go to the paddock bar (also called Rosies Bistro) at the bottom of the parade ring at 1.45pm and Lucinda (and hopefully Peter depending on if he gets any more rides) will meet us there.
x

It seems I will now be working on Sunday but luckily it will be at Kelso!
I think I will be leading up Named At Dinner in the 4th but ill still be able to meet you all before the first for a quick chat.
x

My friend & his wife are coming along as well just in case numbers are important.
His new horse (trained by Lucinda) gets its first outing that day so that should add interest to the day for all of us.
And a very nice horse he is too. First runs always get us excited!
