Aidan O’Brien doesn’t run his Derby prospect in the Superlative Stakes, in fact he rarely sends a good one for that race

It would be wrong to underestimate Adayar, I believe Timeform have rated him at 133 which is enough to win most Arcs, I don’t think he is ground dependent and the track won’t be a problem, I guess the question is how good are Snowfall with her weight concession and the horse I’ve backed Tarnawa who probably would have won it last year if allowed to take her chance.

Older horses have been successful in recent years but three year olds have a great record due in part to the weight received and last years winning trainer Jean-Claude Rouget has a smart three year old Colt in Cheshire Academy, winner of his first three races before finishing fifth after a poor draw and start in the French Derby finishing best of all and seemingly crying out for 1m 4f, I’ve taken the 33/1 and expect him to run in the Grand Prix de Paris before the Prix Niel before the big day in October, he has to improve a great deal but many at the head of the betting are unlikely to even turn up on Arc day and at the odds he looks good value.

I was lucky enough to be at the Curragh on Sunday and apart from the obviously impressive performance two things I noticed, one he has a very laid back temperament in the paddock and after the race he didn’t blow at all in the winners enclosure suggesting the race didn’t take a lot out of him.

it’s hard to get excited by this years Derby, doesn’t seem that Ballydoyle themselves know who is there number one contender and who knows what will happen with Too Darn Hot tomorrow, I backed Line Of Duty at 25/1 during the winter so hoping for a good run in the Dante but it could be the race throws up more questions than answers.

I agree with final furlong, I was at Ascot on Wednesday and she wasn’t very big, not much scope.

I watched Sparkle Roll win yesterday but in my opinion the horse that finished fourth Sea Of Faith is the horse to take out of the race,a daughter of Sea The Stars she finished like a train from well of the pace, she has a bright future.

Personally I don’t think Andre Fabre is worried about the opposition Persian King would encounter at Newmarket, I think the plan has always been the French 2000 Guineas then the French Derby and possibly further, I think he has the potential to be the best three year old in Europe and it could also be that Godolphin expect a better performance from Royal Marine in the Guineas after his run in the Craven.
