Sevenna was only rated 85 when she won the Lily Langtry Stakes (G3) in 2009 for Henry Cecil. Aided very much by the torrential downpour half an hour before the race…..
….and he ran a stinker as I thought…time for retirement I think.
Agreed……but put it this way. If you had to have a £1000 bet to put on the race I know where you would put your money….
I saw a photograph of Frankel earlier today; he’s so well muscled it’s untrue. On soft ground he’ll definitely struggle – it would be like a weight-lifter running on wet sand – but I don’t know that I’d want to take him on through fear of ruining my horse for next year.
How can you say he will struggle on soft when he won his maiden, hard held, on soft? And it was good to soft when he dotted up in the Royal Lodge?? I think he is a monster and hopefully will prove it for HRAC. At least we don’t have to worry about the boys in blue buying him up and ruining him for next year!
On the whole saturday’s card at HQ is shaping up to be a cracker……sadly the last one to contain the Champions Stakes.
Me too…..even worse when probably half of them are beaten a neck or less… Two that stuck in the throat recently were Ferdoos and Together, who both would have won if they had managed to run in a reasonably straight line!!
I think you will find that the Dewhurst Stakes is rapidly turning out to be if the last two years are anything to go by…..Although my vote would undoubtedly go to the Matron Stakes!
Well if Godolphin continue to buy up every single two year old not owned by Magnier/Tabor/K Abdullah/Cheveley Park they may get a good one sooner or later….

Personally I hate their approach and have no sympathy for them……but I dont suppose they will be losing any sleep over my opinion!!
I backed F&G in the Derby and always thought that 12f would be the minimum trip for the horse. The fact that he won the Irish Derby in bog heavy ground shows that stamina not speed is his forte.
Yes this may have been a typical end of season result but credit must be given to Twice Over and not least Henry Cecil who has proved yet again that there really is no one better than him.
He has trained the horse to perfection…remember he is a genuine Group 1 horse who, barring an abject run in the Eclipse, has always been there or thereabouts and thoroughly deserved this win (not least because I was on him but only at 10/1!!) and finally gave the performance that he has promised since he beat Raven’s Pass in last years Craven Stakes. To rest him, and then give him two confidence boosters in minor races was a masterstroke and I thought he was way overpriced today! Compare this to the scattergun approach of AOB….
Credit must also go to Tom Queally who is turning into a fine young jockey and gave him a superb ride today.
Maybe it wasnt the finest running of the race but it contained a plethora of Group 1 form and I wouldn’t be on F&G to beat him over 10f if they met again next season.I prepare myself to be shot down in flames but I was there today and Midday would have won that race….so I think that proves how out of form Sariska was….
