Harzand may have been struck into but he was beaten almost after the start. It all happened way too quickly for him. He should’ve gone for the St Leger.
How the hell does Fitzgerald get selected?
That’s me that won’t watch ITV’s coverage.
The problem is you can win by backing short prices favs, but you have to back them in group races otherwise they get turned over. Ive been slamming certs for years and have made a great deal of money out of it.
Alot of guys on here are extremely dumb, I tell you a certainty and then you go and back a 10/1 shot e/w hoping it comes in the top 3 when you could of just put however much on the horse I said and win with no doubts.
Recently Zelzal, Blue Point, Postponed none was less than 2/1!!! In my opining 2/1 is not short at all!
If you gave me 10 group 1 races against any other person in world I am 100% confident I would call more winners, actually thats a fact.
How can it be a fact unless you have the evidence of having competed against every other person in the world?

There’s not much anyone can say in these circumstances is there?
Very sad news. That bloody disease strikes again.

R.I.P Tom. Thoughts with family and friends.
Fair Eva beat Nations Alexander today by further than when they met previously, and she beat Kilmah by much further (9L today vs 4L last time). Is it not simply the case that she met a better class of filly today than in her previous races?
She’s met top class two year old sprinters in conditions that suit them not her. Yes Frankel would’ve won at any trip but he is the greatest horse I have ever seen. For lesser mortals when taken out of their comfort zone things get tough.
This is why Roger Charlton doesn’t (generally) win big races he’s an average trainer. If you look back early in this thread the one doubt I had about Fair Eva winning the Guineas was the fact that she was trained by Charlton.
Three races in he’s already stuffed the filly.
Financially it doesn’t matter backed at 20/1 layed back to double the stake at 4.3/1. Not everything though is about money.
A balls-up from Charlton I feel.
And yet nobody forced you to back Fair Eva Steve.

As you rightly say, speed was always going to be paramount, particularly in a slower (slower not slow) run affair on a faster track than Ascot and on a firmer/faster surface. However, had they gone straight to 7f might have pulled too hard. Charlton is having winners, but not in the outstanding form he was at the time of the Princess Marg. Although beaten today it may benefit Fair Eva in future races…
Balls up by anyone who backed Fair Eva today.
Strangely, I’d rather she was beat today than tanking through the race, showing masses of speed and winning hard held. I’d now be surprised if Fair Eva does not stay a mile at three, something I could not say before todaay’s race.
It’s not about backing Fair Eva, one or two of us are complaining because we did not see this race as the right progression for this horse. Nothing to do with betting, I for one certainly didn’t pile on a 2/5.
Fair Eva would stay a mile NOW that is why she needed a gradual progression i.e. a seven furlong race next.
Charlton totally ignored the advice of two top jockeys – that is bad training in my book, not that he should’ve needed advice he should’ve been knowledgeable enough to know what to do in the best interests of the horse.
Bubble burst not completely. Fair Eva needed a step up to seven furlongs not being asked to face a speedier test than she had at Ascot.
Bad placing for me and bad decisions can do horses harm especially two year olds.
Well I did say this was the wrong race for Fair Eva.
It was a strong pace guys. The first couple of furlongs were run in 11 then 12 secs and only three furlongs of the race were over 12 secs. The overall time was quick. You can see the splits on repeat on Racing UK. It was simply a case of the cream rising to the top.
And the fact that Postponed and Highland Reel are predominantly twelve furlong horses.
How the hell was Postponed allowed to go off at 15/8?
Absolutely crazy.
Negatives of each horse beforehand need to be taken in to account. When a neative subsequently proves unfounded the horse looks a crazy price. Had Hawkbill’s going negative proved unfounded his price would’ve looked crazy afterwards.
Well done all those who took a chance on the Varian form.

He still shouldn’t have been that price. 11/10, 5/4 even 11/8 I could understand the reasoning but 15/8 was just silly.
Interesting to see Pat Smullen get the ride on Fair Eva. First Ryan Moore, then Dettori now Smullen. At some point I presume Charlton is going to have to find a jockey to settle on?
I don’t like this race for Fair Eva I’m not sure she should be running here in the first place. I do expect she’ll land the odds but I do think Queen Kindly could make her fight pretty hard.
The Voltiguer runner up was rated 105, Across The Stars probably found that ground lively enough and was conceding 3 lbs.
Idaho was entitled to win the race, coming in with a near identical profile to last year’s winner Storm The Stars. The difference was the SP with Idaho odds on and the Haggas colt 3/1.
Idaho is 5/2 for the St Leger. Last season’s winner was no use in the Leger and I am not sure today’s 3rd should be 20/1 for the race, where he will be on levels, travelling further and possibly facing softer ground. There’s a huge difference between 5/2 and 20/1, not sure that the gulf should be that large.
Wings Of Desire was bobbins today but I dare say every poor show will have an excuse attached and every race won will be a cracking renewal.
I agree I think the third horse has run a grand race considering. I’m also not certain Idaho is a St Leger horse. He shows good speed and that York track is sharp enough. The test at Doncaster will be very different and I’d rather be on the Stoute horse at a big price than Idaho at his present price.
How the hell was Postponed allowed to go off at 15/8?
Absolutely crazy.
Postponed wouldn’t even need to be fit, he would win at 80%.
He was fine last time they just made an excuse on purpose because it’s very important he wins group races over 10f. I’ll tel you one thing, come tomorrow I guarantee he will be more than ready!
Yep and Varian had a good winner on Saturday showing that his horses are perfectly capable of running to their form.
Postponed is head and shoulders above this lot. 6/4 is an absolute joke of a price, should be 8/11, 4/6.
I’m not so sure Wings Of Desire has showed improved form Ginger that King George was an absolute pig of a group one race.
Roger Varian had a winner at Doncaster on Saturday, a good winner in a competitive race which gives real hope that Postponed can run his race on Wednesday. If he does that I expect him to scoot home here. I think Hawkbill is the only danger the race looks weak in depth.
Ante-Post ends the day before the race.
If you didn’t take the odds, then it’s not an ante-post bet and you will get your money back.
Any problems and a quick referral will see the bookie back down.
No it doesn’t. Once the 48 hour decs are in ante post ceases to apply. You have a bet on the first day of York now and you will find the rules apply as normal post antepost. You can get NRNB it some places though i.e. William Hill.
Funny you should say that as I thought that too, but apparently according to the cashier I spoke to, the guy on the other end of the line said I should wait until the night before the race before striking a bet
Whole thing is very confusing and I’m sure I’m not the only punter who struggles to understand all of this

He’s fobbing you off. What firm is this?
