Nobel was in an Allowance Optional Claimer .
Imho if Saratoga is boycotted fine , but that would suggest the Grand National should also be boycotted as figures could be worse per runner .South Pacific just went in at Ballerat at 10s , second win since Royal Ascot in 2019 .First leg of the ex Ballydoyle treble over the jumps today in OZ .
Nobel must have gone wrong pulling up in the turf race earlier , looked a nice horse ,first US run .looked like he was going to come through and win it at one point in straight .
That is definately a crossing at that point , can see the rails on inside . Two at same point of track , I know coincidences happen but how many horses gone all round that track in 3 days so far and that spot incidences occur .
Maybe it is a coincidence, Iam no turf expert of course .Might be my eyesight but looked a darkened area at that point in track ,unofficial path across track ?? , Looked a couple of times and Iam sure there is something there path wise .
I scrolled through a results from Chile few years back , was the Derby i think .A big percentage of the field were sired by ex Ballydoyle horses .
I suppose they have to hype the stallion propects .
I like the anticipation of waiting on the horses that have rumours from the gallops that they are flying machines as distinct from trainer hype .
The one that springs to mind whenever i hear these stories was Killer Instinct . I dont think Sir Henry Cecil ever talked him up but he was supposed to be a flying machine . Never lived up to anything like it .A few of his old horses going over jumps Sunday in Country Victoria , Nelson couple group wins few years back , ran in Arc and St Leger for Aidan . He is going well over fences .
Also in is South Pacific , Queen’s Vase winner has a run over hurdles .
San Remo another ex Ballydoyle , from first crop of Frankel didn’t do a lot for Ballydoyle but has hit massive form in his old age , he could go in again Sunday .
Constantinople still a dodgepot that beats himself , hasn’t won since his days as a Classic contender at Aidan” s but he had an entry last week , been off since September but still knocking about in OZ . Rips off in lead most times then implodes .Just won’t settle .Waterville now Mr Waterville trialed over 1000 metres on Tuesday at Rosehill , 6 of 7 . Just an easy run round .
John F Kennedy was a big talking horse I recall , winter Fav for the Derby he beat home 2 horses in three races as a three year old , went to California , beaten in egg and spoon race and ended up in Argentina . Sired winner of their biggest race but now deceased .
Waterville as mentioned earlier in training with Chris Waller in Sydney , will be out soon .Esp Madrid youve got a better back catalogue than Rolling Stones . Great stuff
My Dad used to go Ally Pally races ,the frying pan he said .
I was based for a while about 20 years back in the Ilford /Redbridge area , there was a big push for Fairlop Waters racecourse at one stage .
I see Maisons-Laffitte closed but a group might try re open it , that’s a unique set up there sadly lost at this stage .Mix of emotions reading about old tracks ,I like the subject but feels quite sad as i think slowly but surely the racing world is getting less varied .
There would be hundreds of tracks across the world come and gone .Interesting Ian that the 2 mile 4 was not quite as advertised as I recall every meeting had one or two short course maidens so good knowledge to have .
Went one Sunday and with big noms 7 races ended up with 10 .Little Windsor I went to a few times , another gone . David
Pipe had plenty runners there . Me and my Dad made the next year’s South Wessex Area I think is commitee covering it PTP brochere as background crowd there after one visit .Saw a great two runner race there , winning distance short head after 3 miles .
Badbury Rings a lovely track near Little Windsor I hope survives , PTP great day out .I didn’t realise that Cottenham had closed until I read grandstand was for sale today. Used to go regularly in 90s , lovely stand , great viewing . Sir Mark Prescott was clerk of course or starter I cannot recall exactly his role now, starter I’d put more money on thinking about it .
I do recall in 99 going and horse called Ballyquintet fronted up twice in the card a few hours apart .
Towcester was great too , just close enough for drive from London for evening meeting .
Seen Folkestone on you tube , all overgrown last I looked it up .100s looks good value after todays run . Australian WFA looks weaker than it normally is . Zaaki always looked the type for Plate but hes 9 and getting half a look still.
Couple of decent 3 year olds Millitarize and King Colarado who will have fresh legs and huge weight allowance .
Loads of Ex Euro in entries and Euro trained horses .
Romantic Warrior should waltz in though , has lead up in Turnball at Flemingtom . The Valley is an odd track though but even wide they kind of slingshot off bend if they hit it right .
Winx Stakes Randwick Saturday first real race of season has plenty in .Out of Serpentine’s Derby a few ended up in OZ , one Mohican Heights had a couple wins but now been sold to Darwin up in NT . Ran poorly twice up there , including the Darwin Cup last week. Trainer said does not like track surface up there which is a problem as they all synthetic /dirt or dust in area .
I see at Cairns this weekend a horse called Olympic Korchnoi is entered up , placed in a few Brazilian Derby’s , became Star of Silence in HK now in Northern Queensland .
Wrens Day also entered up in same card , he was second to Cracksman in 2018 Prix Ganay . Had a few wins in OZ but he won’t be far off retirement looking at his last few runs , he’s 10 now .- AuthorPosts
