So sad to hear this. A lovely horse. Remember him well when he was with Nicky Henderson. Condolenses to all connections RIP boy
Just heard this sad news about Saddlers Wells. A truly great racehorse and stallion. Glad to hear that he lived to a good age and died peacefully in his paddock. Was lucky enough to see him at Coolmore several years ago and he was a fantastic looking stallion with a great temperament too. Hopefully with his offspring already proving sucessful at stud his bloodlines with carry on for a very long time. RIP old boy
Yes it was so sad. I was at Towcester yesterday so saw it happen unfortunately. He’d been running well and was just in the lead when something looked to have gone badly wrong with one of his forelegs and he was swiftly pulled up and dismounted. Such a shame. They had gone at a steady pace throughout so not at all sure what caused it. Just goes to show though to all the antis wanting the national banned that unfortunately these things do happen and its not just over obstacles.
RIP poor boy and condolenses to all connections xOne other point I would like to make is that the Daily Mail are accusing the BBc of a cover up with these deaths when I felt that Clare Balding in particular dealt with their loss very sensitively when she broke the news about their sad demise.
It looked a horrible fall and I think they said poor Peter was knocked out instantly. Heres hoping he makes a full and speedy recovery.
Yes the two fatalities really put a dampener on the day. I was shocked this morning at the graphic images shown on the Daily Mails website. I really don’t think this is beneficial to anyone apart from the antis and in all honesty they really annoy me as I feel they are glad when a horse dies so they can preach and crow about it. These images today will make the owners distress even worse and there is no need for it. I feel I can talk for all of us when I say that most racing fans care deeply about the horses and are absolutely devastated when a horse dies or suffers a serious injury. Luckily we have good veterinary assistance and these occurances are dealt with quickly and humanely.
Such a sad loss although he lived to a good age. Such a good stallion and hopefully his genes will live on for many years to come. RIP
Oh no poor chap. So sad to hear this. He’d ran so well too. Such a shame for connections and horrible for the spectators too. I often go to Towcester and like to watch all the horses coming back in so im glad I wasn’t there that day
Oh no, so sorry to see this. What happened? Had been watching the race on TV when he looked like he was about to win easily and then was called away as someone was at my door so missed the end. Such sad news.
Such sad news to hear this and I am disgusted that people would actually cheer what happened. People like that should be banned from racecourses in my opinion as they give the sport a bad name. Hopefully there arn’t many people like that about. I know when I go racing if any horses come down and have had the dreaded screens around they always get the biggest cheer if they are ok and get back on their feet so I think the majority of racegoers are much more caring.
Such a shame to hear this. He was a horse who I loved watching with his exuberent jumping and always seemed to enjoy himself. Glad he had some good years in retirement at Martinstown Stud
So sorry to hear this horrible news. I didnt get to see the race today but thought he would win it. A great horse and such a sad loss. Condolenses to all connections
Such a sad loss. A horrible couple of days for the Phillip Hobbs team. Condolences to all involved with him
Yes I too was sad to hear this news about the old girl. She was well looked after by Maurice and Im sure he’ll write a nice piece in the newsletter next week. A sad loss for the club. RIP
A really good winning debut from her. Think she looks really good now she has matured too. You can see a lot of her sire in her thats for sure although according to Richard Hannons site she has a fantastic temperament so a lot easier going than he was. Hope she has a great career both on the track and as a broodmare in the future.
A jockey I really admire. Hope he gets well soon
Thanks for that. It will be interesting how she gets on.
