Yes I too thought that if they were up behind it just meant that they still had growing to do and will eventually even out once they are fully developed.

Thanks for the photo. I think she is a sweet looking filly and has a real look of her sire about her.

There are so many horses for me which have stood out but some of my favourites were Suny Bay, Mysilv, First Gold, Best Mate, Gloria Victus, Rooster Booster, Moscow Flyer, Istabraq, Well Chief, Denman, Kauto Star, Penzance and Comply or Die. As you can see I have lots here but there are more than that which I could have put down as I am a huge fan of the jumps in general as I think there is more excitment and also the horses stay around a lot longer so you get to know them more.

Thanks for letting me know what happened. It does sound justified and he really should have been more careful. I hope the horse he brought down was ok.

Yes I managed to catch the race and saw he had been heavily backed. He won easily didn’t he considering his form figures were last and pulled up so far this season.

What fantastic photos. Thank you so much for posting them. It is nice to see Ouija Board and her foal looking so well. You were so lucky to get to see them.
Your filly Deckchair looks lovely too. Wish you all the best of luck with her, you’ll have to keep us all up to date with how she gets on.

Oh what a shame. I have seen him run several times. Condolenses to all connections.

Yes I also went and had a great night, sorry I couldn’t find any of you guys but it was packed. I don’t think I have ever seen a crowd like it there. I was lucky enough to get Timmy Murphy, Robert Thornton, Sam Thomas and Richard Johnsons autographs whilst I was there.
I am going to go to the next meeting there on Thursday 19th June too.

Looking at tonights Towcester card even Paul Nicholls has a runner there in the second race after me saying in a previous Towcester debate that he never seems to send horses there. Sam Thomas is riding for him.

Yes, I am going to Towcester tonight too. It looks quite good as most of the top jockeys are riding.

Thank you for your help Rory. It does sound like she has been a big disapointment.

Sorry to hear that Rory. You did well to get the vet quickly. I hope she makes a good recovery.

Sad news about Sharkeys Dream. I know what you mean about how awful it is if something happens right in front of the stands. The last couple of times I have been racing a horse has collapsed after jumping the last hurdle and died instantly and also another horse broke a leg both right in the home straight in front of the crowds which was really upsetting. I suppose the race is on in earnest at this point and the jockeys are riding a finish so there is more chance of something going wrong. At the last meeting a man in front of me said to his friend "lets face it nobody who loves horses would be in to this sport" which I completely disagree with as I adore them and help out with my friends horses regularly and enjoy all horse sports. I realise that there are fatalities which is heartbreaking but horses can injure themselves just as easily in a field and also there have been a few eventing deaths recently too but nobody seems to comment on that the same way they do about racing. Most racegoers care deeply about the horses running and the biggest cheer I ever heard at Towcester was when a horse had been down winded for about 10 minutes and got back to his feet again.

I saw racing review on ATR this morning and this race was one of the ones covered and it really was sickening to see the incidents which led to their deaths. It was made even more heartrending as they had looked like they were really enjoying themselves racing up front together and were quite a long way clear before the individual incidents which ultimately claimed their lives. Poor Colourful Lifes jockey looked understandably distraught on the floor when he saw what had happened after the fall.

I am so sad to hear that. I too was a big fan of Colourful Life (wasn’t he formally with Paul Nicholls)? It is a real shame to lose these two horses in the same race. Colourful Life still seemed to show zest for racing even at the age of 12. RIP both of you and condolenses to all connections.

Towcester is my local track so I go there as often as I can to enjoy the racing. I feel it is a lovely setting and offers great views. Also you can walk right round the course to get closer to the action if you like which you can’t at so many of the bigger courses. It also offers free entry and the chance to see big name jockeys. I do agree about the terrain there causing surprises with results though as things change so quickly up the final hill leading to the run in and also the races there are definately lower grade so you don’t tend to get big name horses there although I did see Tony McCoy winning there on Refinement a couple of years ago and she has gone on to do very well. Quite a few big name trainers like Jonjo, David Pipe and Kim Bailey support it though although I don’t think Paul Nicholls has ever had a runner there. There are a lot of low grade horses around now though so I suppose they need courses and fixtures like this so they can have a competitive chance.

I too was lucky enough to meet him in the flesh about 3 years ago now and he looked fantastic. I hope he has a long happy retirement.
