STRATFORD 3.50
DALARAM 25/1 INTO 9/2
Horse improves on all starts this season
The punter doesnt have a chance
Oh and i didnt have a bet i just watched the race(although almost backed Pipers Legend)
September 14, 2008 at 16:31 #180920Yes I managed to catch the race and saw he had been heavily backed. He won easily didn’t he considering his form figures were last and pulled up so far this season.
September 14, 2008 at 16:38 #180925A remarkable training feat by Mr Tuck to improve this disappointing animal so quickly and dramatically.
No doubt the stewards will want to have him in so they can congratulate him upon it.
September 14, 2008 at 16:49 #180927Does anyone know if there was an equiry into the running/improvement of the horse?
September 14, 2008 at 16:50 #180929its last 2 runs (when it drifted!) were shocking….can’t be just a 52 day break was all that was needed! has been beat 100 lengths and 60 lengths in previous starts and then the money was down in this race and wins?
was rated 95 on the flat,,,has won off a mark of 131 in a class 2,,won this race off a mark of 103 so it is possible the trainer has done his job and got the horse stop on but with such a gamble on it , it just doesn’t seem right.
September 14, 2008 at 17:19 #180938Looks as though the horse has a history of back (and breathing) problems, and has always been at his best after a break.
He went up 1ib for a good run, 3 runs ago. 2 poor runs since and he has been dropped 1ib before winning today.
Hardly the script of a major fiddle. Just because someone was obviously in the know, that the horse was right, doesn’t mean there has been any wrongdoings.September 14, 2008 at 17:31 #180941It isn’t the first time he’s been punted. He was backed from 14-1 into 9-2 a couple of runs back [and finished a close 3rd] when trained by M Coumbe. He is still in the same ownership syndicate as then.
If you want to bet in these types of races [with the extra cherry on the top of obstacles in the way of the horses] then I wish you all the very best of luck!

Completely agree, if I was going to do anything like that, I’d probably run 2 horses in a low-grade handicap at some gaff track, lets say Newton Abbot for example, I’d try with one and back it off the boards at all prices, down to something like 5/1 and I’d instruct the rider of my other horse to swing wide off the final bend and take out some of the main rivals, particularly the favourite.
After that, I’d probably claim that I hadn’t backed the horse, that I knew nothing about it, and come out with some bullshit about combine harvesters.
September 14, 2008 at 17:47 #180945Must have looked really good in the paddock .. lol !!
September 14, 2008 at 18:57 #180953If you’re betting on horses you’ve got to factor in market moves – fact of life.
September 14, 2008 at 19:13 #180958Also massive congratulations to Mr Wigham who found similar improvement in one on Friday night. Well done Sir.
And I expect some improvement from a Mr. Cathal Lynch´s horses at Philadelphia Park
September 14, 2008 at 20:27 #180984As i say i didnt have a bet.
Cormack i hear what your saying but some of us dont have the luxury of sitting watching the Betfair screen for market moves.
Its also true Sunday Uk racing in the main is pretty poor fodder and not really something you would take on as a betting medium, but all your looking for is a fair fight.
Horse beaten out of site last 2 runnings beaten out of sight punted off the boards with no stewards enquiry come on im not asking for much.

Grow up lad: It’s called having a touch. Learn to read throough thelines and whe the lads have one over on the bookies learn to accept it and say "Well done Lads"
Racing has a big wall and you are obviously on the wrong sid of it. "Sum Num Na" as they say in Thailand

Much too obscure for most of us DJ, but I was at Ladfbrokes when that infamous touch was landed and the fallout was very interesting. Within three months, every stipe in the country had spent half a day at Imperial House watching videos of said race and being instructed about "dubious betting patterns" into the bargain. The upshot is that if any trainer in the country has his cards marked, it’s probably John "I don’t like a bet" Tuck.
I’d be intereted to know if anyone knows much about the Coumbes, as the family has a well deserved reputation of pulling off gambles over the years; I was told many years ago that they were essentially working for a more prominent racing figure who used their relative obscurity to mask his occasional touches. Shades of the Pipe/Bridges axis perhaps but I nevr heard details.

Correct Berminn ~ during the Frestival is regarded as being the easiest time to sneak one past the firms. Bank Holidays are another popular scenario.

Hope you remember to say ”well done lads” if your bet is turned over by a horse with 000P-00 form and backed from 25/1 to 7/2.
There are not many punters like you.
