I’m sad to report that Kabayil was sadly put to sleep yesterday she was 21 years old.
Kabayil became the Elite racing club’s first winner on 1st February 1993 at Plumpton.
Following her retirement Kabayil became a successful Broodmare her most famous son being Dancing Bay.
Kabayil has spent Many years at Star Cottage Malton in the Care of Maurice Camacho.
Kabayil was a lovely horse who could eat polo mints until they came out of her ears, I will miss her incredibly on my next visit to Star cottage.
Her last son by Doyen – Yabadabadoo is currently in the care of Ryan Bliss. He has already been much talked about due to his name, I hope next year to be posting his latest triumph’s on the racecourse in memory of his mum.
Rest well Kabayil reunited with your lost Lomitas filly.
You are much loved & will be greatly missed.
September 24, 2010 at 09:42 #319045Yes I too was sad to hear this news about the old girl. She was well looked after by Maurice and Im sure he’ll write a nice piece in the newsletter next week. A sad loss for the club. RIP
October 7, 2010 at 15:15 #321321Thanks for the update and warm tribute, SF. As Yabadabadoo is in the care of Ryan Bliss, I presume that could be with maiden point-to-points in mind this winter?
Ryan’s mother was involved with horseracing when Elite Registrations, where she worked, diversified into Elite Racing in the early nineties, so I can quite see how the link between horse and rider came about.
Ryan is notably erudite and media-receptive among the pointing rider ranks (not that the others are to a man and woman mute, of course), so updates on Yabadabadoo as the winter progresses might not be too hard to come by if anyone would like them.

Reports from Rysn re Yaba are very promising he seems to be doing very well, Ryan’s mum Kay is still with ERC & is great fun on stable visits.
As well as Yabadabadoo we have another of Kabayil’s sons to look forward to in Mister Dillon who will be going to Nicky Henderson shortly.
