JOCKEY Peter Toole is understood to be in critical condition in hospital following a fall at Aintree on Grand National Saturday.Toole suffered a heavy fall when his mount, outsider Classic Fly, fell early in the John Smith’s Maghull Novices’ Chase.
Charlie Mann, to whom Toole is attached as a conditional jockey, wrote onhis Twitter account at around 7pm on Saturday: “Peter Toole being kept under sedation in hospital [with] possible head injuries.”

I’m sure we all pray for good news …
April 9, 2011 at 21:02 #349531It was a horrible fall.
Have really admired the way this lad has been going this season, particularly his partnership with Fine Parchment, and thoughts are with him and his family.
April 9, 2011 at 21:58 #349536Startled to hear the gravity of the news about Peter – very best wishes
April 9, 2011 at 22:26 #349542Just come back from Aintree and heard this awful news, I agree with previous sentiments that I hope Peter recovers from his injuries

April 10, 2011 at 08:50 #349585It looked a horrible fall and I think they said poor Peter was knocked out instantly. Heres hoping he makes a full and speedy recovery.
April 10, 2011 at 09:20 #349588Best wishes to Peter.
I hope he makes a full and quick recovery.
Best wishes to his family too.
April 10, 2011 at 09:21 #349589Reports this morning are he has bleeding in the right side of his brain and he will be kept in a medically induced coma until, at least, tomorrow.
It has not been a good couple of weeks with, first, Rodi Green and now Peter Toole.
Here’s hoping both make good recoveries.
The risks to both riders and horses has been bought into sharp focus recently.
April 10, 2011 at 15:19 #349644It was a really horrible looking fall.
I very much hope and pray that he makes a recovery.
Once again illustrates, as Paul says, the significant risks involved with riding.

Yeah, those mildmay fences are as stiff as boards, the fall almost made me physically sick.
Wishing the brave lad the best for a full recovery. - AuthorPosts
