I’m not sure,I’m just not sure.
Denman looked as if he was starting to struggle when he made the first mistake, horse and jockey seemed to not agree when the question had to be asked.
I’ve loved watching AP over the years and was warming to the idea of him riding Denman, but….
If I owned the horse I’d ask Sam to get back on board for Cheltenham.
That wasn’t good. Not good at all.February 10, 2010 at 02:24 in reply to: Other than Red Rum, who was the best National Winner? #275297Nothing will ever come close to the great Red Rum,I tingle with excitement every time I think of his performances up at Aintree.
The best of the rest?
So difficult to call though I’ll go for Red Marauder.
Why?
Because I’d backed him quite nicely at 50’s and 33’s.
Don’t ask me why,the ground that day was diabolical, though I think it was something to do with having backed him the previous year.
I was convinced there was a big race in him.
And for once.
Just the once.
I was right.I also think Takeroc has a very good chance.
He’s an animal that seems to promise more than he delivers but his comeback run shows that things are starting to fall into shape.
A very tasty 14’s is simply too big a price.Impossible to know, CCB used a lot of petrol to get on terms, and SE was hardly stopping.
Can’t see why people are so sure of a result that never happened.
But anyway, I’m according
both
horses the respect they deserve imo.
Agreed but at Cheltenham it’s the one that jumps round safely that wins, it seems to rest between the two , If I was a jockey I’d feel a lot safer sat on Sizing Europe, I think the way Captain Cee Bee lands so steeply will cost him dearly coming down the hill
If the period when Sizing Europe was injured or suffering the after effects is ignored, then his record is impeccable
PS I still think Sizing would have won last time out

Agreed.
To suggest that CCB’s success was a formality had he jumped the last is plain wrong, the price discrepancy between the two of them is most unbalanced judged on all known factors.
Sizing Europe is a confident selection in a race where jumping with precision is of paramount importance.
The good Captain will not get around, seldom have I seen a more certain candidate to end up on the deck at the downhill fence.
Sizing Europe wins.
Back him accordingly.Having missed the earlier part of the season due to injury I missed the superbly named Quinfromcloonbunny make his winning debut.
Is there any news on this horse, and will he be in the line up at Prestbury Park?
Any suggestions welcomed. There’d be no point in trying him on the flat, why risk damaging him?
Read the excellent article posted and you’ll see that he does cause his connections a bit of worry,he’s not the hardiest of beasts by the sound of it.
It remains to be seen just how good this horse can be.
If he stays then we could be looking at one of the best in many years, just pray that they can keep him sound.
Let’s hope they have one that we can all drool over for many years to come.So very exciting.
I like Weird Al a lot,I think he’s an ideal sort for this type of race.
He jumps well, stays well, obviously has a liking for Cheltenham and can battle it out when the going gets tough.
He may not carry the same sort of hype of one or two of the others but maybe that’s a good thing,it’ll hold his price up a bit.
I’ve got him at 16’s and wouldn’t swap him for anything else in the race.An absolute machine. I doubt there’ll be many Irish trainers rushing to take him on at Cheltenham. Ted summed it up perfectly – there’s not a novice around who’s fit to lead him down to the start at Cheltenham!
Great article on the horse from today’s Indo:
http://www.independent.ie/sport/horse-racing/boxwalker-to-boxoffice-2052121.htmlMany thanks,that’s an excellent article.
The horse is in good hands.
They’ll do what is right for the horse.
Great stuff. That’s very sad news about Red Moloney,he looked to have a very bright future over hurdles.
‘Tis a tough old game, heartbreaking at times.Disappointing by Roberto,Zaarito would have won had he stayed on his feet.
Weapons Amnesty needs further.
Is anybody surprised at that?He does look like an incredibly talented animal, that was breathtaking.
Would you want to see him run on firm ground at Ascot?
I wouldn’t.
Just how good he is remains to be seen.
He could well be something very, very special. Some interesting points being made, and I agree that it’s a very difficult race to call.
I’ve been through it time and time again and for me the horse to beat, one who continues to improve,is Khyber Kim.
Sometimes we get too wrapped up in certain lines of form whilst ignoring what is in front of us.
Just watch his last two wins.
You’ll then see why he looks a very likely winner of the big one.As an aside I’d also say Punjabi is too big a price.
He’s being trained for Cheltenham and will love the scrap from the last.
Ignore him at your peril.Hello everybody.
Whilst I feel desperately sorry for Sam I am starting to get very excited about seeing AP ride the big horse.
Owners have hard decisions to make, and they have to do what is best for the horse.
They know what they want and they know the horse better than most of us.
Racing isn’t a popularity contest,it’s about trying to do the right thing to enhance your chances of winning.
AP and Denman doesn’t sound too bad does it?I read somewhere that some punters think AP can’t present a horse properly at a fence.
Such statement make me shudder and wonder what sport people are watching.
It’s little wonder there are so many rich layers out there.- AuthorPosts
