In his blog, Barry Geraghty said that he thought he got the ground wrong, said he felt that Bobs Worth didn’t like the ground. Something wasn’t right, that’s for sure.
Bobs Worth has run well over a stone below his best. He’d have had this lot for breakfast on his Hennessy or 2013 Gold Cup form.
Older horses
Shirocco gelding – from a half-sister to Katiyra, 3rd in 2008 Oaks, winner Blanford Stks G2, 3rd Prix de l’Opera G1.
Oasis Dream gelding – half brother to Jet Away, winner of £300,000 and 4th in G1 Caulfield Cup.
Medaglia d’Oro colt – half brother to two $500k winners, dam won Lowther G2, granddam won Coronation Stakes G1.
Cape Cross colt – out of Oaks winner, half brother to St Leger winner.
Cape Cross filly – out of half sister to St Leger winner.
Unbeaten Teofilo colt – big enough to be a Gold Cup winner – at Cheltenham! Lots of potential.
Galileo colt – full brother to the best horse in living memory.
Galileo filly – full sister to Irish 1000 Gns winner.
Monsun colt – half brother to Passage of Time and Timepeice, both G1 winners.
Sakhee gelding – dam out of Shiva, G1 winner, a half sister of Light Shift, Oaks winner.
Dansili filly – half sister to Multidimensional, G2 winner; dam 2nd in Yorkshire Oaks.I don’t see the highly promising Retirement Plan there. Has he been moved to another stable or taken out of training?
I blame the delay caused by the injury to Daryl Jacob before the previous race and the two false starts. If the race had been run on time, we’d have got a different result. Nine times out of ten, either Bobs Worth or Silviniaco Conti would win that race; it’s just that at
that exact moment in time
, the stars aligned for that particular result.
Liam Treadwell and whichever racecourse lackey caused the second false start have many questions to answer.
A sad loss, as are all equine fatalities. Raya Star was an honest and talented performer; I always had a soft spot for him, with his quirky tail carriage and almost lethargic paddock demeanour.
You’ll be missed, Raya.
Bobs Worth to regain the Gold Cup. He’s run at least a stone below form today; with none of this year’s staying novices looking much cop, I’m willing to give him another chance at 10s.
I wasn’t sure if this post was serious or not. Until I saw this:
the multi-talented broadcaster
Name the last two debutants to have won the Coventry Stakes.
You’ll be saying its not long to the Lincoln next, hideous thought
I can remember when the Brocklesby was the highlight of the flat season.
It still would be if they moved it to its rightful place.
Flyingbolt. Airborne.
Nice to see ethics being trumped by the lure of free cash. How can anybody open an account with PP after the Pistorius trial scandal?
Latest odds just in:-
Paddy Power to possess one molecule of class:-
1000/1
I wonder if they’ll get Pistorius to drop his trousers to reveal some green y-fronts after he’s been sentenced?
Paddy Power would knock you back for more than a tenner (or maybe a score if you were a regular FOBT customer).
I popped into my local PP this morning and asked the manager how much I could have on the trial. She replied that the PTL (permission to lay) limit for all novelty bets is £25; anything over that has to be phoned through prior to acceptance.
It’d take a hell of a lot of runners to get a decent bet on.
I’d imagine that they’d put the greyhounds on after racing, given that few people are going to go out of their way just for dog racing in the middle of nowhere!
I can’t stand greyhound racing, but I suppose it would extend a day at the races; if I got too bored, there’d always the option of heading to the Plough for a swift half.
Excellent news.
Until the bookies decide to close shops to cut costs.
…. there’s no such thing as bad advertising…
Are you sure about that?
I wonder how many accounts have been closed as a result of this compared to how much money they’ve actually taken on the outcome of the case.
PP are a strange firm. They come up with excellent money back offers and other promotions but their general cheap tackiness puts off a lot of potential customers. They could try to go upmarket but I doubt that their head honchos even know the meaning of the word. I strongly suspect that Messrs Kennedy, Power, McCue et al have the mentality (and intellect) of a pack of teenage schoolboys.
I don’t know their motive….
Cheap publicity.
It probably is.
Not that I can blame him: bookies’ aren’t public conveniences.
