    https://www.attheraces.com/news/2026/June/06/epsom-team-reflect-on-‘extremely-positive’-feedback-to-derby-day-changes

ATR reporting 28,500 on the Saturday and the same overall total, so nearly 20,000 on Oaks Day

Nathan – we can still get 2-1 Sun Goddess. Mike can get at least 5-2, NRNB, cash out available until after they have passed the post.

Ah yes, “Wings Over Scotland”, run by Stuart Campbell, who is such a proud Scotsman that he has lived in Somerset for over 30 years.

Wonder if he’s got over losing to Kezia Dugdale in the Inner House of the Court of Session yet?

I can only assume you forgot about Frankel, who won the St James’s Palace Stakes the year after Canford Cliffs (and then demolished him in the Sussex Stakes).

“Piccolo Anshan and Electric in the bottom line of Christmas Day’s pedigree is unexpected for a Derby winner”

Agree with the first two, but Electric was a very smart middle-distance performer (Timeform 126 at three and 123 at four), who landed the Gordon Stakes, Great Voltigeur and Jockey Club Stakes, touching off Time Charter, no less, in the last-named. His career was blighted by recurring muscular problems, sadly, but he was clearly a very talented colt.

Thorpe’s actions affected one person. Farage’s lies affect millions – look at what Brexit has done to the British economy, for example.

    Huh?

    Farage is immeasurably worse.

I can’t believe that a Reform figure got something right!

Zia Yusuf (you know him, he’s never been elected to any position in his life) called the police “institutionally racist” this morning.

He is, of course, completely correct… just not in the way he thinks they are. Black and brown people are statistically far more likely to be targeted by the (still overwhelmingly white) police force than are white people.

There was a discussion about reducing the distance of the Derby to a mile and a quarter some years ago.

Thank goodness it didn’t happen; hopefully, it never will.

It’s funny that, despite all their success, Coolmore have never had a true champion.

Timeform ratings aren’t infallible, of course, but their highest rated Coolmore horse was Hawk Wing – and his rating of 136 is based on his possibly fluky performance in the Lockinge as a 4yo.

Montjeu, owned by Michael Tabor, had a rating of 137.

Same as everything these days, sadly: the rich get richer, while the rest are left to fight over scraps.

I’ve made this point in the past, but I think it bears repeating: in the good old days, a stable would consider themselves lucky to have just one Derby horse. Coolmore have them falling out of their ears.

I know you tried to make the point. But, even though they were MPs, they did not have a national mandate.

    Cheers, Ruby. 👍

‘Twas wet and windy – and they were strung out like three mile chasers in several races – but Derby Day is still special to me, as a (relatively) local lad.

It does get boring that Coolmore win it every year, though, and not always with their supposed number one.

    You are correct, Ruby.

p (lower case) denotes capable of better
P (capital) means capable of a lot better

Why on Earth would a new Labour leader hold a general election now? Give Reform three years to demonstrate to the public how hilariously inept they are.
