Having given the matter a fair bit of thought I would agree that it is not really fair to single out Fist of Fury in this way, however tempting it may be to do so.
I think Carvills, you have made your point.
However tempting it may be to do so? yeah right Corm
Can’t please everyone but no harm in trying
January 25, 2009 at 04:29 in reply to: The last time a favourite didn’t win on a day’s racing #206374Last post Equi……..always been fun having a crack/disagreement with you and Friggo so I wanted to say goodbye……be retiring if Binny wins anyway
Good luck and tell all the guys to be good!Miss you all
Fist
Sorrymate I lost the plot…..well done!
**** you got 5 of mines on there..your a better judge than I thought

Now I am confused HTH who did what?

About time i chose a winner.

Well done mate……did I mention I hate you

Now a non-runner – that’s what ‘enthusiasm’ does for you.
Native Coral it is then.
Must be a mud bath half the field look like not running

We have four of the front five in the betting for the World Hurdle here. The general bookmaker prices for that market are:
2.1 Punchestowns, 3/1 Kasbah Bliss, 10/1 Blazing Bailey, 12/1 Big Bucks, 14/1 Fair Along.
Adjust those prices for the absence of Kasbah Bliss and you get approx
6/5 Punchestowns, 15/2 Blazing Bailey, 9 Big Bucks, 10 Fair Along
So if Punchestowns is a good bet at 11/10 today with the 8lb penalty, he’s a very good bet at 2/1 for the level weights race.
PN is very bullish about Big Bucks in his RP column and I think it should be close and likely to be tactical between the pair, as neither will want to be in front too son – Walsh because Big Bucks idles and hangs in front, Geraghty because he won’t want to give Walsh a lead for the same reasons.
Fascinating race in prospect.
I think you may have summed it up well but I don’t know how big a factor that will be.
Lough Derg looks to be the only confirmed front runner in the race. Taking it he run’s to form and isn’t good enough he maybe allowed to stay in front that bit longer, to give the big two a lead. I would be very hopeful if it happens that way Punchestown will find a lot more when asked than Big Bucks IMO
However at Ascot it was Blazing Baileys who was first to take it off Lough Derg 3 out. Fair Along also likes to take it up from 2 or 3 out so he could also be challenging fairly early……..then it could come down to who stays best up the hill and tactics will be thrown out the window. That 8lbs could then come more into play.
.I’m a bit confused about what you are doing and wonder why you think I had 1000 baht (for talking sake) on all those selections.
1000 Baht onTidal Bay to beat Master Minded against 1000 Baht Kauto Star to win the King George (backed him twice for therace incidentally not once)
I must be just as stupid as you are trying to make me look.
Trust me when I tell you this. I’m having a good laugh at this thread and you wouldn’t have a clue how much I have on each horse I mention unless I told you.
Please continue though Carv you are doing a wonderful job

With Roll Along I get the impression and I could be wrong some of the connections would like to think they have a Gold Cup horse.
I think his trainer is being a bit more realistic when he says he would have to improve an awful lot.
Many owners get carried away and if Nicky Henderson has severe doubts about RA’s Sandown conquerer, Barber’s Shop, being a gold Cup Horse, then it’s safe to say Roll Along definitaly isn’t.
He seems to have gone nowhere while Jonjo’s has improved and he doesn’t need Roll Along to give him a boost..He did that himself at Kempton

He may well run into a place here but win a Gold Cup? I think not.
Couldn’t agree more with you…looks a helluvahorse

Wouldn’t think that would see the way Chomba Womba went and agree itshouldhave no relevance onhow good HF is.
What did get me about that race was the prformance of Go Native.
He never been of the ridle for the entire race and come there at the last going everybit as well as HF.
He clouts the last but that isn’t what stops him. For some reason hejust doesn’t want to put his head down and run. Could be he is a bridle horse but if itsomeything ailing him and they could fix it he’d be something to write home about.
Dodgy horse to bet at the moment but definitaly one for the future if he starts looking keener in the future.
I would still be tempted to run him at Cheltenham if I were them. These horses that can travel as well as him, can somtimes win good races without coming off the bridle. Especially if all doesn’t go to plan with some of the others which is all too commonplace at Chelters.
Don’t you mean drift in the butter

Excluding AP I’ve had my biggest bet of the season so far on Punchestowns.
My reason is very simple..he’ll win

Support for PN’s horse is holding his price up and at first glance his defeat of Don’t Push It looks very good. Then again so does Fair Along’s who is probably atrracting some money as well.
In reality what we had is 3 failed chasers running back over hurdles and that rarely works when you come up against the best.
Punchestowns 11/10 looks a great bet
Im’ with you and GW on this one. Wherever According To Pete finishes I think this horse will finish in front of him. He’s twice the price of him which reprenets a good EW chance to me wheras ATP has hardly got a racing weight.+
I would say he’s very consistant butIdon’t think he’simproved thatmuchifany. He was thrown in against Souffler snd his other tworunswere pretty poor afffairs
When TR ran at Haydock back in May he was subject to a bit of a gamble but was beaten. I believe the excuse put forward was the trip was too short for him.
At Hexam he ran on really well under hands and heels from AP who was anything but hard on him. A race he would have needed and would surely bring him on.
Next time out lo and behold they run him over 2m 4f again. He was also very easy to back that day drifting slightly from 11/10 to 5/4. If that entry and market move is not a tip in itself I don’t know what is.
He’s obviously been laid out for this and if AP wasn’t riding JP’s and was riding this you wouldn’t get 16/1 in a dream.
Tough old race to win but he’s got as good a chance if not better than most IMO
I don’t think anyone would get away with it that wasn’t an old timer on here and in the palsy walsy club. If a new member did that his feet wouldn’t touch the ground.
As David seems to think it’s ok for a poster to single out another in a poor effort to mock him the so be it. I would have thought you wouldn’t need send me a PM to ask.
With little protection against such ignorant posters than it’s up to me to defend myself. I’m a big boy and with som thought I’m sure I can come up with a suitable response which should be fun
.I had a quick look though carvs list and immedately noticed a few missing like Sizing Europe who I backed earlier in the week. Also my ante post bets were mentioned nor the bets I had on Sunnyhillboy 7/1 and Witchita Lining that wasn’t for 1000 baht I can assure you.
Binocular 10/11 was my biggest bet of the season until Cheltenham when I has more on Master Minded 11/4 I put 50% of those winnings on Zarkava 7/1 which to date was the biggest bet I had in my life. 30 % of those winning are now riding on Kauto Star EW 7/1-5/1 Binocular EW 25/1 to 8/1 and Master Minded at 6/4. 50% of the winninghave a lready been putto gooduse and the
EW bets with good returns if they win on Calgary Bay 40/1 and Kicking King 25/1 What A Friend 14/1 Hurrican Fly 7/1 Ebadiyan 14/1
Compare those to current prices and judge for yourselves if you think I know what I am doing or not.
Other members may notice most of my posts are made in the Cheltenham and Big Race sections………….it’s pretty obvious most of my big bets are in Grade1 and not in handicap races unless I have good info on a certain horse. I certainly don’t back to a level single stake and never have.
CARV: If this is how you want to spend your time son then go ahead.
I’m sorry if the fact I have taken a little bit of your limelight away bugs you.You attacked me out of the blue here a few months ago because of the following posts:
Rory: Nice trial from Character Building over timber sees him a best priced 8/1 for the race. I hope you had a bob or two pre the publishing of the weights FoF.
Fist: If I say I did Rory some one is sure to bite my head off
I backed him EW mate but won’t win much if he wins. Reason being I have bet another horse which may cause a ripple or two on hereI took 20/1 about Don’t Push It at the same time and he is and always has been my main bet for the race. I am taking the gamble he comes right, the ground suits and Jonjo will send him. He is adamant the horse needs further than 2m4f and shouldn’t be too harshly treated.
Grasshopper: My chin will hit the deck if he stays anything like 3m, let alone 3m 2f
Fist: Really…….I think he’s a stone wall certainty to get 3 miles.
He was running on like a tiger when getting up close home against Mr Pointment over 2m5f at Cheltenham in soft ground. Surely on his favoured good ground you would expect him to have an excellent chance of getting 3 miles over fences?CARV: Fist, you are making a bigger fool of yourself every day that passes on here. You were tolerable last year because you had the nous to realise that there is more knowledge on here than you possess. FFS have the cop on to use this site to learn a bit and not to make yourself look a complete tit, which you are doing to good effect at present.
Fist: He stayed at Aintree. He must have as he only got home yesterday. Laughing

Totally out of order Carv……..can’t believe your attitude mate……never said a bad word to you even if I thought you were wrong.
FFS lighten up and think before you type….Why on earth would Jonjo waste time and money entering him for athe Hennessy if he thought the horse had no chance of staying?
You’re a big hit for yourselves if you think you know more about a horse than the man who trains him. That’s all I have to say other than you can bet your life Jonjo intends trying him over 3 miles this season.
That’s the post that led to this…..how wrong you were then and how wrong you are now. Oh guess what Carv he did run him over 3 miles three times and he stays every bit of it ………and guess who never mentioned it again or rubbed it down your throat when he did?
We can all dig up each others posts and make a fool of each other.
My bet is Corm will delete this now as it makes you look like a spoilt little boy who can’t see green cheese going past him and we can’t have that can we? I would prefer it was left up to show people what kind of person you are if they don’t already know.
Tony rode a winner in the Donkey Derby for charity so your all wrong

I would have thought all winners count but I can undersatand the big pictureis NH rides. That is afterall what he is known for and no doubt the press will have a f ield day when he does it…….either way the word GREAT flows easily from the mouth when you talk about the man
To think great horses like Mandarin and Mill House ran in this it’s a shame it has become like a gathering for some of the most unreliable chasers around .
Fier Normand’s ran a very good race when he ran a on from along way back in January, when unfancied.. He will be much fitter today but has only ran over the trip once whe he fell. If he gets the trip he will go very close. 14/1 with William Hills is not to be sniffed at.
