dear formath would you say that if your selection does,nt appear in the first three in the handicap or top speed part of the selection proceedure it maybe badly handicaped i know we were beaten today by zimbabwe but i would like to know how often a horse can defy a 19lbs rise is there any records
dear formath at what piont do you become concerned with weight do you have a cut of say 9lbs
dear formath would like to assess the figures for the 3.10 at liecester and you could tell me what you think my four horses to look at are menuphar collonges, kilty storm, zimbabwe, and nagam . first menephar not in top 4 of class gave it a 3 consistancy 1 is not in con 2 because of its fall and lay off in top 3 ratings ,rpr,ts,mail kilty top 4 class , in consistancy 1 and 2 but poor ratings on in top 3 of star zimbab not in top class but in con 1 +2 not got very good ratings only top speed next nagam no class rating but con1+ 2 and good ratings rpr,ts d.m out of the 4 i like the look of menuphar collonges and nagam who both have things missing from there profile but if you forgive menuphar collonges it,s lto fall it would fall into place
formath is the there any weight or class change that you will not back ie 14lbs of movment upwards two classes ,or to much class and weight ect ect
yes with a name like class tells and i dont back bahamian pirate i ask you dont like mixing the the codes and surfaces ect
formath what would you consider good ratings i dont like rpr ratings but use them because they are free on my computer reading vdw they all seem to use the daily mail i like to use two form ratings and two speed ratings also buy the weekender and would buy the star if it did me any good and use them as in close encounters of the vdw kind by philip close
very sorry formath misread your post congrats on dichoh vdw the 3.50 and backed quiet times
dear formath on your summing up of the 3.50 at southwell why have you gone for red cape and not quiet times as red cape is not a class horse of the race or a distance winner, while quiet times is not in great form at the moment it is a multipal coarse and distance winner and ticks most all other boxes using rpr,top speed, star, and d.m and is trained by top trainer and riden by top jockey
dear formath is your book pro,s and con,s i,ve kept that booklet for a number of years;)
dear formath, i see you use two methods of consistencey is one the traditional and the other average amount of horses beaten in its last three races
hi artimis if you give solidus a read it may give you a calculation as to how much to give or take away from your handicap ratings depending on a fast or slow run race helps to give one rating
artemis have you read the book by DAVEY TOWEY when you say [would knock of a few pounds of a handicap mark in slow run race] do you think by using his rate tables this may give the right amount i.e class over speed in sprints speed over class in distance races the book is called SOLIDUS a great read
formath hi how do you come to your subset of horses is it vdw or what?
hello artemis i like to use them in the same style as vdw as horses that are in the top class,in the first favs, and good form figs and been shown to running well at the end of their races, and as a filter has ran a handicap figure 7lbs or more using racing post, handicap marks to show it maybe well in
i,ll try again as my first contribution, i,m a fan of vdw but did not like his method of finding the class horses in the race i have came up with an other method, by using the weekender take the best handicap mark {theirs} x the best speed rating and divide by 100 to give you a rating it seems to work ok but just started anyone else done anything the same
