Good post, it’s your money and you call the shots. Listen to no one and go with what you believe.

It’s great though to take a view on a big race and express your views to others. Right or wrong everyone respects peoples views and if they dont win then they are happy to see someone else win.

Beaten 12l by The Gurkha over 8f. So that’s a big claim.

I know it’s a brave call but i feel that at least good ground is essential for this horse.

Sometimes you see something in a horse and think to yourself straight away ” that’s a very good horse “. That’s my feeling with Zelzal. If the ground comes up soft at Ascot it looks like the Breeders Cup could be an alternative.

It’s great for racing to see superstars.

Zelzal different league to GG but I wouldnt be confident over the straight mile, round course Zelzal wins it easily.

No doubt in my mind that Zelzal is the best 8F horse in Europe. So i took some of the 12’s E/W on Stormy Antarctic to uphold the form.

USAR wont win over 1 mile 2F in this company. The horse was given his rating over 12F in the Derby. I would argue the Gurkha would not get within half a furlong of USAR over 12F.

USAR is 10/1 at the moment because he wont run in this race.

Mr. Froome’s date with destiny arrives on Wednesday. Tom Dumoulin is racing now after his broken wrist 2 weeks ago and has become favourite for the time trial.

I have laid half my 13/2 Time trial bet off @5/4 so now have a free SPOTY bet at 33’s and a profit overall if he loses the time trial.

It will be some spectacle to watch these guys go over this course against the clock.

Hopefully everyone comes back safe and sound at the end of the day.

Hope everything turns up, complete monster race. Lady Aurelia really fav to beat Caravaggio? Come off it!

Just had a bit on Tis Marvellous E/W 3 places @ 8-1. I watched his maiden win and Papin win and he’s maybe being a bit overlooked altogether.

I think USAR will stay 12F ok. Judging quotes from the trainer such as ” babyish, immature & learning ” you feel that the Derby came too early for him and the best is yet to come.

At the end of the day the obvious stable gamble from being unraced (33-1 down to 4-1) at one point nearly came off. Only the last minute inclusion of Harzand stopped him.

It looks like the Juddmonte is going to be some race this year, maybe the best up to now if everyone turns up.

Why are the vibes awful for US Army ranger?? Have you heard anything specific or are just guessing?

A big ask for USAR in this race as mentioned above. Would be a great comeback if he placed IMO. Personally i think he will stay in Ireland and go the same route as Found last year.

Zelzal is entered in this also @ 8-1.

He broke the course record last time out and is due to run in the Jacques Le Marois or Prix du Moulin before this.

Interesting comment by Ed Walker on Zelzal re. Stormy Antarctic

“To be honest, I wouldn’t be afraid of taking on any of the milers but I’m not that keen to take on Zelzal again. I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up the best of the lot.
“Don’t get me wrong, The Gurkha and Galileo Gold are exceptional horses, but I was very impressed by that horse yesterday and I’d be keen to stay clear of him, I think he’ll be in search of fast ground so we’ll see.”

Like the look of Mullins second string Thomas Hobson here.

Flew up the handicap last year from August onwards in races up to 12F while trained by Gosden

Improved again over hurdles this winter despite not being the most fluent hurdler. Ended up running 3rd to Jer’s Girl at Punchestown.

Notable entry in the Irish St Leger

    33/1 currently

I’m not so sure botchy. I think you might have botched the form together to make it look the way you want it to look. I don’t take much encouragement from the performances of the Derby runners.

Harzand is definitely slightly better than Idaho. That’s all the Irish Derby told us. We learned nothing about how the 3yos will cope versus the older horses.

Wings Of Desire was a well beaten second in an appalling King George, won by a horse who pothunts weak international G1s and has been repeatedly exposed as a tier below the very best

Across The Stars beat a ragtag bunch who were not considered worthy of competing in the Derby. The Derby runner beats the second division: hardly a dazzling endorsement there.

Deauville didn’t stay in the Derby and beat the traditionally dismal US turf horses under a wonderful ride at his optimum distance: a sharp 1m 2f

    – Derby flop Ulysses scrambled home from another crew of second and third raters from his own age group.

Not botched around really, just stating that some horses have performed better than they did in the Derby. If you look at last years Derby i think only Jack Hobbs & Storm the Stars won a race afterwards.

Based on official ratings Postponed is on 125, Harzand on 124 and USAR on 123.Given they were both unraced at 2 and have had 3 runs each then it’s quite possible they both could improve a bit to become players.I just prefer 12-1 to 6-1

Early days but that is my reasoning, probably wrong but what can you do ?

It looks like this years Derby was a better renewal than at first thought.

Harzand and Idaho ran to form at the Curragh

Wings of Desire second in the KG

Across the Stars wins at Royal Ascot

    Deauville in the States

    Ulysses this week at Goodwood.

Looking back at the race US Army Ranger came from a mile back to be beaten 1 @1/2 lengths. It was a big improvement from Chester and looks like he has been given a bit more time to strengthen up into that frame.

Hopefully with more to come he can progress further to win the Arc, his next race will be a big pointer to his progress made since June.

US Army Ranger to Win @12’s
