    Some nice designs on there.

At the end of the day, the owner has the ultimate choice of what colours he/she uses.

Paul – I think this reflects more on your desire to bash RFC than anything else.

You’ve got the option of Ireland also.

The Saval Beg worth £30k at the end of May over an extended 1 mile and 6 furlongs.

    7, 7, 8, 5, 8

This is the number of runners of runners over the past five years. So there’s an opportunity for a young stayer with a progressive profile to at least pick-up some place money.

Alan, I didn’t know about a drought seven months ago. But I had the same opinion then as I do now – the NH season should finish on Whitbread day for a month. With the exception of the Perth meeting..and this could be shifted to Scotish Grand National week to create a "Scotish Racing Festival" week of some sort…the fields have been meagre.

apracing – Looking at some of the field sizes lately at the gaffes, I don’t think you can seriously justify any more NH racing on bone-hard ground surely ?

The column has been like this all season. Contradiction after contradiction.

It might sound ridiculous when he’s got a chance of being champion trainer, but when you think about some of the situations he’s put himself in over the past couple of years; particularly when communicating with the press is involved, it makes you wonder why he bothers with the column.

Alan, I can’t really agree with your comments on place money. Connections don’t know how many horses will line-up when they make an entry, do they ? I don’t think there’s any justification for the authoirities ‘retro-fitting’ prize money, once they know the field size.

You were missed at the Lygon Arms Preview Night btw…

JJM Sports, you can’t be trying to suggest that the people you highlight are betting with any weight ? It’s the 10p Lucky 15 and Yankee punters on the illegible betting slips. No serious punter bothers with it.

Eddie Case, I just speak from experience having worked in a beting shop with a decent sized turnover, relatively speaking. Punters arent betting on the All-Weather in the shops. It’s a turnoff. £200k a race gets matched on the exchanges though.

"Meanwhile the betting operators coin it"

Ricky you really need to give this some more thought. Nobody in the shops or online is betting on this dross.

These meetings are being run for the sole benefit of exchange punters.

The exchanges should therefore be funding it.

Banks should pack it all in and give our resident ‘Punter’s Pal’ a call. I’m sure he could fix him a spot way above the ring; creaming-off a few quid (levy-less of course) from the hired hospitality. Laying stricken horses and the like.

    Who’s with me?

Wit, I do feel you need to declare your interest here, on what is an annual thread for you on the Racing Post situation. What’s your issue ?

Late submission of annual accounts and falling circulation…you seem to take a satisfaction from it. I don’t understand why.

Surely the prize money is already ring-fenced though ?

I am starting to wonder whether a bookmaker running the Tote wouldn’t actually be a bad thing..providing the terms of engagement are right from the start in terms of their funding responsibilties back into racing. It sounds unthinkable, but then it has already been proved that racing can’t run the Tote effectively. It’s been an under-performing white elephant for years.

Tuffers – In view of this (and I’d like to think we’re all agreed on failings associated with the running of the Tote), would it be in racing’s interest to start another pool betting organisation up in opposition ?

Good to see the Levy-Less bookmakers on the exchanges completely left to their own devices for another year.

Looks like the Jockey Club sweetener did the trick.

Some opinions on this thread I can’t have. Soccer AM has been dead on its feet for years ! Same gags time after time.

Morning Line is OK for what it is. It’s watchable for the most part. At the end of the day its a program designed to preview the live racing on C4 later that day. New or old format, there’s only a limited number of ways you can do this.
