I think you need a 9/10 year old that has won a Grade 1 race and a chase over at least 3 miles, is carrying between 10st 9lb and 11st 5lb and is running with 49 days.
Rare Bob fits the bill and his trainer certainly knows how to ready them for this race. 40/1 is a ridiculous price with some bookies paying 6 places.
Looks like Barry Geraghty without a ride now too with withdrawl of Northern Alliance.
Nicky Henderson confirmed plan is to send him to Punchestown. I would have loved to seen him run at Aintree which I think he’d a real liking for.
Hoping that Golden Kite will get in. Only 2 more to come out and with 2 horses rated 50:50, am hopeful.
He lacks steel in a finish does that horse which his record of 4 wins in 16 shows.
Anybody paying 6 places? setantabet refunding all losing win bets on irish trained horses that get around.
I’d have to agree with Jim Crowley on the flat.
Over jumps it would be Barry Geraghty.
He has to go. Simples. Must have Irish blood in him trying to dodge this bullet. Do the right thing and go.
"Running Imperial Commader in the King George may not be wise to some but prey tell what should he do. Put him in a box and leave him there over Xmas and wait for Cheltenham to come round? If you don’t try you don’t get."
Send him to the Lexus is what he should do Fist. Simples.
I’m be a happy layer of IC for a place all day long come the 26th.
SE does not get the trip. He is a speed horse and should revert back to the 2M chases. While I don’t blame connections for checking whether he’d stay (as a staying chaser is what all owners ultimately want!) they should stop the folly now and get him entered into the Tingle Creek.
A lot of punters have great affection for this ‘old gelding’ especially after his beginners chase season of 08/09. He had gone close in all of his five attempts to get off the mark over the bigger obstacles before winning at Kempton in February 2009. He was becoming an expensive horse to follow at that stage but he duly delivered in front of decent crowd who were there to see the return of Denman.
He was a favourite with Matt Williams of the Racing Post who stuck with him over those couple of months before reaping the rewards.
He’s definitely a horse I’m looking forward to seeing again.
Nothing wrong with the liquidity in its other markets. Maybe the layers are less interested in the horses as the exchange evolves.
Couldn’t argue you with there Joncol. I’d be annoyed though if I owned him. Makes no sense.
Its a pure numbers game with him.
No way will I reading him on Betfair. Can’t stand that shower pretending to be the alterboys and shafting racing at every opportunity. When they put into Racing what they get out of it only then will I use them.
Plus they’ve never offered me tick!
I wouldn’t be surprised if the Post replaced Nicholls with Ruby Walsh!
I’m gutted that Nicholls won’t be writing in the Post any more. His column was really insightful into his Saturday runners. The paper will be the poorer for its absence.
That this is even a serious thread makes me laugh.
That really is a great shame
His King George performance was by far the best thing I’ve seen this season and will surely not be surpassed for a long time.
I genuinely think his race that day was as good as anything Zenyatta or Sea the Stars did last season.
Zip
Probably the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever read on this site.
I’m gutted Harbinger had to retire because I couldn’t wait to see Fame & Glory destroy him in a race and then you could judge him against the great Sea the Stars.
Don’t know how he got that provisional rating he did. Did they learn nothing about overhyping a horse after 1 race!
Aidan O’Brien revealed in an interview last year that he expected the Coolmore team to gradually migrate towards David Wachman in time and that he was preparing Piltown so he could return when he was asked to vacate Ballydoyle. If that happened, then I’d very much expect him to go dual-purpose, although I’d call it a very big "if".
Magnier is no fool. You’ll never see Wachman at Ballydoyle no matter who David is married to! Jamie Spencer was his nephew and he got bullet for being unable to attain high standards set by Ballydoyle. Wachman’s time at Ballydoyle would be even shorter lived!
AOB once said ‘a trainer can’t make bad horses good but they can make good horses bad.’
That’s exactly what would happen with Wachman in Ballydoyle.
