A grand effort from Voy Por in the Ryanair.
Another old favourite, My Way De Solzen, is running in a Hunter Chase tomorrow – the final race on the card at Hereford – for those interested.
He will be joined by the former Paul Nicholls-trained, Takeroc.
April 5, 2011 at 16:44 #348748VPU has been retired. He is not sound.
I’m gutted for the horse as still think he has never been given the recognition he deserves. For some reaosn he’s just necver really been that popular. Admit he is not flashy looking or anything like that – but he always gave his all. Very genuine and tough.
He will go home to live with Sir Robert’s other horses, Marlborough and Ad Hoc.
At least he can have a retirement. And I hope he has a very long one. Will always be one of my favourite boys and his glory days remain some of my best ever racing moments.
April 5, 2011 at 19:10 #348759Thanks for the update, Fairybridge – I’d expected to see him declared for the Bowl and wondered where he was. I always liked him and I’m glad that they’ve not persisted if he’s not right.

Sorry if I should know this, but do you have a connection with Nicky Henderson’s yard, or the owner? It’s just that I haven’t found that news about retirement reported elsewhere??

April 6, 2011 at 10:27 #348826Barry Simpson is quoted in the press today and says the horse goes to Punchestown, so retirement doesn’t sound to be the true story.
April 6, 2011 at 13:36 #348851Nicky Henderson confirmed plan is to send him to Punchestown. I would have loved to seen him run at Aintree which I think he’d a real liking for.

Sorry for late reply. I know the racing manager.
Interesting decision to give him more time. Not what was suggested when Aintree was taken off the cards.
I would love it if the horse could bounce back, but would hate to see him raced if he is not right.
I guess we will know more by Punchestown.
