Best mate beating The Fellow for me. TF was a seriously good horse, who should have won 3 gold cup’s himself.

this has to come down to a straight shoot out between Dessie and B Hill Lad, with the venue favouring the latter.

mmm, it can’t be the BF ratpack

nope, he’d not plug his own channel and work mates, surely

BF ratpack…that would be Mr Hoiles himself?

Anyway, my dreamteam as follows (dont get RUK so list is a bit limited):

Presenter – Claire Balding (having first humanely destroyed her little Willie)

Pundit/Paddock – Francome (more because of droll sense of humour than actual wisdom) and Williamson or that bloke who rode Rough Quest (temp forgot his name!!)

Commentator – tough one – I like McGrath’s voice, has the right kind of gravity for big races (Holt is a bit high pitched and skwawky), but Hoiles is prob best all-rounder for me.

    Booth – definitely Boyce

Betting ring – has to be Stephenson (best of bad bunch, and feel sorry for her having to stand next to that obnoxious lard ass)

Interviewer – probably Hislop, but not cos I fancy her (cant see why so many people do!)

Surely if demand is low (ie, no-one turning up), then the over-rounds should also be low – its a basic rule of supply/demand! Seems like theyre more interested in conning the mug punters in the shops than providing a half decent service on-course.

God, I hope my local track (Newcastle) never installs one of these sandpits – i’d rather go and watch the dogs (and thats bad enough).

Have to agree that when it comes to horse racing, flag-waving patriotism does look a bit daft. I dont recall the Festival ever being called ‘The England-Ireland Jockeys and Trainer’s Championship’.

I know Arkle was supposed to be pretty clever, but I bet even he didnt know he was Irish! ;)

At the end of the day, to paraphrase the never popular Brian Conley….

    "IT’S A HORSE!!"

Totally disagree with you TDK. Winning an Arc doesnt even compare with winning the Triple Crown – and it would be just the shot in the arm the Leger needed.

Still think its a bit early to be suggesting he can do it, but hats off to the connections for considering it . They can but dream…

Never seen this horse before, and would agree he looks pretty spectacular.

Something that amazed me even more from the Racing Post info was how prolific a sire Sunday Silence is (or was). He sired 8 of the first 10 home in the Arima Kinen, the race in which DI sufferred his only defeat :o

DI has also nver ran on anything softer than good, which may be a problem in the Arc. Does anyone know if SS sires top of the ground horses? Presumabely he does, if his offspring are so good in Japan (mainly firm conditions).

Wasnt Wind in her Hair (his dam) a filly which was trained over here?

I’m so sad to hear this awful news. My thoughts are with Craig’s family.

    Nixer,

You do realise that the commentator at the Man U/Juve game was Clive Tyldsley, the biggest tosser on planet Earth??!

Please dont think that the cr*p that comes out of his mouth is representative of the majority of the British people ;)

Have to say Young Kenny was a favourite of mine, even though the only time I backed him was when he fell at the first when favourite for the Eider at Newcastle. He then proceeded to win about 5 on the trot! Lovely, rangy horse. I remember tuning in to his last race at Haydock (I think) half way through it. The commentator wasnt mentioning his name, and I had an awful ominous feeling about it. :(

Does anyone remember a horse called Kumasi? Only saw him once in a novice hurdle at Ascot, about 1990. Thought he was the most fantastic looking horse, only for him to go and get killed at the final flight. :(

Anyway, end of morbid post. :)
