Well said
Yes , that is undoubtedly an ouch moment for Pannick – however I think he’ll survive .
Sorry Davis J !
I note the SL reports that Fallon did not seek permission to appeal . He has 21 days in which to change his mind on that but I am not surprised he has not sought permission.
I am sure David J has given his reasons- it is the press need to time to understand them.
It is not a rule but it is considered bad form . Unlike in the robing room where counsel bitch about their opponents and their submissions all day long .
By the way I hear that Warby was called on .
Is it ? I only glanced at it at lunch . I had the impression that there was a bit more from DP this afternoon but you might well be right.
Unusual reporting not to set out what Warby said but perhaps it will be updated.
No Aidan . The High Court won’t refuse to hear such an application. The principles set out , most recently, in Bradley-v- Jockey Club govern whether having heard the application it is acceded to .
Wit , did you notice that the SL report makes no mention of the HRA submissions? If the HRA was not called on , then unless Davis J comes out tomorrow and decides he needs to hear from them after all (not unknown but a very unusual course ) then Fallon has lost.
Davis J will not be unaware of the public interest in the case and I did not expect an extempore judgment .
The Lands Tribunal has upheld that level of compensation so if receiving a large wedge for that was part of the business plan that can’t have helped .
I doubt they would plan on such a contingency though and isn’t there also a plan for a turf track?

July 25, 2006 at 20:32 in reply to: Now Sir Micheal Stoute and Prince Khalid Abdulla have non-t #73953It looked pretty dreadful but I can’t see any reason why these connections would have a non trier . Davies gave it a desperate ride
Delighted to hear it – all the very best to cormack and all TRFites .
Very good news and I wish him all the best with running it . I for one am absolutely delighted that it isn’t going to be run from Basingstoke
But Richard Hughes might ride it
All Guest needs now is to start putting R hills up to rescue his career
Doris Day could outride Lisa Jones too.
Gianfranco Dettori – don’t make me laugh – his son is 10 times better .

Duffield would not be in my top 50 . Far too whip happy . His prominence in the years when his retirement was approaching was an indictment of today’s jockeys . In the 70s and 80s it was laughable to think of putting him on a classic contender .
Piggott the best by a long way , with Cauthen a respectable second .
