Not posted for ages and the likelihood is I won’t post again. Gamble I fear is losing his touch, forget John Lennon it was Janice obviously who told the truth after Danny gave her the nod. But what do I know other than my interest in the sport of Charlie and his cousins is all but extinguished apart from the occasional visit to the Bois De Boulogne or the delights of a curry house on Belgrave Road. Alas it is the same with TRF. If you’re ever in the Rag And Mop let me know and I’ll gladly buy you a pint.
I bid you adieu me ducks!

ShishkinHow do you turn a duck into a soul singer? Stick it in the microwave until it’s Bill ……………
As some have mentioned before an impossible task to choose just one. Some of the bands mentioned by others I have managed to see although not necessarily in their prime, The Stanglers at De Montfort Hall Leicester, Wedding Present at the Marcus Garvey Centre in Wolverhampton for all of 45 minutes in a marijuana haze. Also saw the Stone Roses at Leicester University before they “made it”. I am however a folkie at heart and the likes of Nick Drake, Cat Stevens, David Ackles, Bob Dylan etc etc are generally the artists I keep going back to and I do love a bit of Leonard Cohen who contrary to most peoples view does cheer me up! Saying that I’ll put up a couple of tunes, one that I keep going back to after finding the 45 in a collection someone kindly gave me which is a track by Spooky Tooth and another that is as beautiful a piece of music you could wish to hear from Edward Elgar. It’s the obvious choice from the Enigma variations, Nimrod No.9. I listened on youtube to the whole 14 last night performed by the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Jacek Kaspszyk and it’s a complete joy

If I should die, think only this of me:
That there’s some corner of a foreign field
That is for ever England. There shall be
In that rich earth a richer dust concealed;
A dust whom England bore, shaped, made aware,
Gave, once, her flowers to love, her ways to roam;
A body of England’s, breathing English air,
Washed by the rivers, blest by suns of home.And think, this heart, all evil shed away,
A pulse in the eternal mind, no less
Gives somewhere back the thoughts by England given;
Her sights and sounds; dreams happy as her day;
And laughter, learnt of friends; and gentleness,
In hearts at peace, under an English heaven.Many thanks all and nobody is more surprised than me that I managed to find a few winners.
Thanks also to BigG and Triptych for running the comp
Thanks all, probably my best day at Cheltenham since 1990 when New Halen was one of my winners.No chickens are being counted however especially as I’ve been known to tire badly on the run in. Thanks to Big G and Tryptych for running the comp again this year and although I’m by no means an excel expert I can take a look at doing a table for next year if required

With a couple of mates we used to get a few drinks in a local pub from the age of 16 early doors. The landlord knew all our fathers so as Paul has intimated above as long as we behaved there were no issues. Regulars also used to keep you in check if you got to big for your your boots.
