The most disappointing horse for me has to be Fury[/color:6h2ai0j3] after winning that big 2yo race last season i thought it was Cheveley Parks next big thing. but this season has been poor from him. apart from Pisco Sour[/color:6h2ai0j3] its looking a very weak TATTERSALLS MILLIONS 2YO TROPHY last year.
August 4, 2011 at 00:47 #367060Well so far, I have to say that I’d preferred to have seen
Seriously though, even though I’m much more of a national hunt connoisseur, I must confess to really enjoying this flat season. For the first time in nigh on a decade you have a top notch sprinter in Dream Ahead. Two lovely mares in the shapes of Goldikova and Midday. The most exciting miler of my (I started watching in ’92) generation in Frankel. The enigmatic beast that is So You Think as well as an increasingly classy looking classic generation.
You flat folk haven’t had it this good in a while and I’m pretty surprised one’s looking for lamentatations.
If pressed, I’d say that your staying division lacks strength in depth but then again, when since the days of Persian Punch has it not?
Just enjoy your best season in ages whilst it’s still going
August 4, 2011 at 01:02 #367062Get Serious. One of the best milers on the east coast last year, out of the money this year. What happened?
August 4, 2011 at 10:12 #367085In fairness Grands Crus was beaten before he set foot on French soil – he’s totally the wrong type of horse to send to Auteuil.
August 4, 2011 at 12:30 #367097Pathfork! All this good ground and he hasn’t raced.

INLER.
A right old talking horse. A fine example illustrating one of my core beliefs about the English Turf: racing journalism is a total waste of time.

August 4, 2011 at 14:13 #367119Winker Watson has been shockingly disappointing ever since his 3yo days, even now as a 6yo couldn’t win a pony race

To be fair the horse has been disappointing since all and sundry were raving about what is best described as a lacklustre workout at HQ before last years Guineas.

One of his trainers was very big-mouthed.
Looking at Inler’s stats could it be that his connections have made themselves believe he is a class 1 horse when he isn’t? The ownership equivalent of backing prices not horses.

fury Had some niggling problems before a below parr 2000 Guineas reappearance. Ran well when just touched off by Tazahum at Sandown. Then found little in two minor events. Excuses for the former when held up in a slowly run race and Fallon needing to drop back even further to get a run. Could be something amiss physically last time out.
Can’t see how anyone can think the Tatts Million 2yo Trophy "very weak"?
You’ve already mentioned the 2nd Pisco Sour.
Third Formosina hasn’t run since.
4th Measuring Time, 5th Questioning and 6th Auld Burns achieving first three placings in the Tatts Million3yo
Trophy (in different order). Former and latter then finishing second and third in the Sandown Classic Trial.
7th home Shafgaan a typical Clive Brittain horse, having a poor handicap mark.
8th home Dominant won the £150,000 Tatts MillionCup
, beating the afore-mentioned Questioning in to third. Dominant then going on to chase home Twice Over in a Group 2, in a race not run in his favour.
Of the others:
11th home Oracle finished 3rd in the Irish 2000 Guineas.
14th Malthouse 2nd in listed Glasgow Stakes.
20th Sir Reginald won the Tatts Million Sprint on his only other start.I’d say despite Fury’s (so far) disappointing record the Tatts Million 2yo Trphy has worked out very well.
Value Is EverythingAugust 4, 2011 at 15:27 #367137Wootton Bassett
August 4, 2011 at 15:36 #367140Memory – Obvious reasons.
Lily Of The Valley – Prolific French winner last season.
Astrophysical Jet – Thought he’d be a top 5f sprinter this term.
Pathfork – Looked a top class two year old.
Byword – Not recovered 2010 form.
Havant – Thought she’d be a Classic winner either 8 or 12 furlongs.
Wootton Bassett – Possibly hasn’t stayed a mile.
Helleborine – Thought she might be a high class french filly.
Casamento – Disappointing and seldom seen since joining Godolphin.Value Is EverythingAugust 4, 2011 at 15:37 #367141AnonymousInactive- Total Posts 17716
There is no doubt for me that The Factor is the biggest disappointment for me yet to no fault of his own. This horse was pegged by myself as having THE highest horseflesh rating of any 3 year old in America. Very few if any were saying that. That was pre Kentucky Derby when the likes of Uncle Mo and Nick Zito’s gift from God, Dialed In were gettting all the press. I’m sure those two could fill this page alone with the people who were on those bandwagons but that is another story.
For me, The Factor was pegged when he went 6 furlongs in 1:06 and change breaking the Santa Anita Track record. True the track was lightening fast and he is a speedball who IMO would leave even a Frankel or a Sidney’s Candy gasping. NOBODY at that time thought he would go distance but I spotted some decieving back breed that said he would.
He then stretched out at two turns and easily DESTROYED them in the 1 1/16th Rebel Stakes at Oaklawn Park and people started jumping on board. I thought him a lock for the Arkansas Derby and it was there he displaced his palette running 6th, choking on his own air.
The surgery was done but his chance to participate in the TC series was gone. NOW, they have him pointed for a showdown with another returnee, Uncle Mo in the Kings Bishop at Saratoga later in the month. It is 7 furlongs and I believe he will CRUSH Mo. The disappointment is that I fear they will now be sticking to his sprinting talent and maybe point for the mile at the BC. To me this is heartbreaking as I believe still to this day this horse can stretch out and rate. He is a classy one indeed and I hope he forces them to stretch him out. We never know though how they’ll returnAugust 4, 2011 at 16:18 #367147The Factor was just a hyped up, four-legged ad for Fox News. Nothing more. Just telling it as I see it

The Factor would take Frankel in a match race at one mile. As for Fox news, God Bless them. The only news station that will not advance the liberal lemming way of brainwash.
Just keeping it real. It’s what I do

I LOL’d quite hard there
August 4, 2011 at 16:32 #367151Not another thread going the same way.
Come off it lads.
This is like that song "I can do anything better than you".
One thread I can take….
