The 1425 at Ascot today sees Get Back In Line, and Citizenship back out.

Get Back In Line is obviously a horse I’ve got high hopes for, and he’ll have to be on his game here, as it’s a hot little race, with several dangers. Stable form is a bit of a concern, but I remain hopeful. He’s still relatively inexperienced, but I’m sure he’s a Cheltenham horse already, and they’ll have to start winning with him soon to get his mark up, he could end up on a nice weight for something like The Coral Cup if they play their cards right. That’s what I’ve got in mind anyway.

The same race might be on the agenda for Citizenship. I’d already mentioned that I had The County Hurdle in mind for him, but looks as if a step up in trip is the plan now. Trainer is bang in form, and no reason why she can’t get more improvement out of him today.

Not concerned too much with Citizenship, as in hindsight, 2 miles 3 on very Heavy going, never really appealed. Hopefully they’ll step him back now, as he remains on a nice mark, and if that race hasn’t bottomed him out, then I’m sure Venetia can get him spot on for Cheltenham.

I was a lot more disappointed with Get Back In Line. Although they haven’t showed their hand with him yet, I really did think they had a serious horse on their hands. Didn’t look like it here though, and he’s now got a fair few questions to answer.

Clondaw Knight runs in the next at Doncaster, and I’m hoping he’ll be ok on this going, and it’ll prove to be a wise move swerving Carlisle yesterday.

Most importantly, I want to see his jumping continue to impress, but if he doesn’t land this I’ll be a bit disappointed. Certainly remain of the opinion he could be very decent, so in all reality he’d have to go close here.

Didn’t go right from the home straight, where the jockey just couldn’t find a stride at the last few, still, no excuses, he didn’t seems to find enough after the last when he was still in contention.

Prompter finally runs in the big handicap I’ve been wanting for him, in The Betfair Hurdle today at Newbury.

The weather seems to have went totally against him though, and he’s available at 100’s. I still maintain he’s got a big prize in him, but the vibes don’t look good for today. He’s been ridden, erm, strangely, in some of his runs, but he’s re-united with Dominic Elsworth today, who was on board for one of those runs……and I hold out hope that was to get to know the horse in readiness for "the big one".

Never in contention, but come the spring, I’ll definitely be having an interest.

Not quite what I had in mind for Prompter when I put him up, but he runs in the all weather card at Kempton today.

To be fair, it probably suits him more than that slog at Newbury last week, but he’s got his work out today, up against no less than My Tent Or Yours.

I still think he’s got a couple up of races up his cuff, and although he’s been mentioned here as having a decent Handicap Hurdle in him, at 40’s, I’d have to give him a decent each way squeak today.

Double Seven runs in a decent looking race at Leapordstown today, and he’s attempting a six timer.

He’s still my main hope for Aintree, and he faces my other fancy Last Time D’Albain, so somethings gotta give today. Won’t be too disheartened if he doesn’t land it, but I’d hope he gets competitive enough. He’s had a few months off now, so he may be entitled to need this, but he’s potentially the best horse in the field, so fingers crossed. Home Farm, Daring Article, and Colbert Station, amongst others, are very decent opposition so just a bit nervous that if he’s a bit rusty today they shelve plans for Aintree. Been delighted how he’s went this season, and he owes me nothing, but I’m hoping for a good show.

The Game Changer is back out at Naas today, and after his disappointing show at Leapordstown, it’s a bit of a "wait and see" job" with him. Hopefully he can get back on track today, but although it’s not The Boylesports Hurdle, it’s still a competitive enough race. I’ll be watching in hope, rather than expectation.

Much better today, and gives a fair amount of hope for the future. Travelled well all the way through, and near the end, thought he was going to get there, but in the end, happy enough for him to finish second after that poor show at Leapordstown. Very encouraging.

Had a wee bit of joy with runners from this thread at last years Festival, but this seasons crop haven’t been as impressive.

Cockney Sparrow has made it for todays Mares Hurdle, but that’s it. Another couple entered up, but they’re really struggling to get in.

I’ll draw on the old guard then, and have done a few perms with Cockney Sparrow @ 10’s, along with

    Tour Des Champs @ 16’s
    Baily Green @ 8’s
    Pateese @ 25’s
    Jetson @ 14’s
    Seefood @ 14’s
    Lyreen Legend @ 40’s
    Astracad @ 20’s

Be delighted to see some of them run with credit.

Not posted for a while on this thread, which probably tells its own story. Not been a spectacular season for the ones I’ve put up.

Cockney Sparrow has been a bit of a disappointment, and to be honest, she hasn’t really went on.

Prompter, and my big hope, Get Back In Line have also both flopped again, though the cynic in me still reckons they’re going to pop up in the not too distant future. Prompter in particular, appeared to be out for a leisurely stroll last time.

I put Citizenship up, hoping that the switch to Venetia Williams might do the trick, but I’d have to watch him in hope, rather than expectation this afternoon.

Also out this afternoon is The Game Changer, who I’ve been reasonably happy with so far, despite a howler thrown in at Leapordstown in January. His last run was a lot more like it, and a repeat of that could easily see him bely his odds of 22’s.

    D-Day

Well, I put Double Seven up last August, and as usual, hoped that he could have a good season, and pick up a good prize or 2. He hasn’t let me down, and he’s also paid his way too. I’m hoping beyond hope he can do the business today, but in the best line up for The National for a few years, he’ll have to dig deep. Fingers, and everything else crossed.

Quick mention for Buckers Bridge, who I put up last season, as one to watch, and I’m gonna have to stick a fiver on him as well, just in case and all that :D

First things first though, lets hope the pair of them, and all the others, come back safe and sound.

So close, but still, absolutely delighted with him. He’s been fantastic for me this season, and profits aside, he saved my bacon, as the rest I’ve put up on here, have been a bit disappointing.

Seems a long time since I gave this thread a look, and bar Double Seven, after last years imposters, that’s probably a good thing. Got a few I’m hoping to see out soon, but in the meantime, I’ll stick my neck out with this guy.

    Wayward Frolic

1520 Wincanton. Lightly raced horse from the Nick Williams yard, he’s clearly had his issues, with his appearance at Cheltenham a few weeks back, being his first for a year and a half.

Big fan of the trainer, and he seems to be quite adept at placing his runners well, and does really well with what he’s got. Liked the way this horse was travelling before getting rid of his rider last time, and he was picking them off one by one, without much effort, a real eye catching performance.

Jumping would appear to be the main concern with him, that wasn’t the first time he’s failed to get round, but he just looked a winner waiting to happen that day, he looks the type to bag a few staying chases this year……………jumping permitting.

Very poor forgetting to give the late Cockney Sparrow a mention, who gave me a good pay day in The Scottish Champion Hurdle. Had her in a single and the Exacta with Court Minstrel. Why I never put it up I’ll never know  She was a cracking horse, who I’m sure had a few more decent prizes in her.

Well Waywyard Frolic won by 54 lengths  at Leicester yesterday…………I told you.

Unfortunately it was in a selling hurdle, rather than a staying chase……….but a wins a win, and with no other horses put up so far this season, I’m having it.

Again, not in the sphere I expected to see him, but Wayward Frolic is back over hurdles today at Market Rasen. Maybe asking a lot to to see him win by 54 lengths today, but looks to have a decent chance in this for his debut for the new yard.

    That didn’t last long, 6th……….of 7 runners

    Jett

I never thought I’d ever put one up on breeding alone, but this half brother to Jezki, and one of my favourites of the last few years, Jetson, makes his debut at Leapordstown today. Very hopeful he’ll be worth following over the next few seasons.

More than happy with his second today, against a decent looking Mullins horse. It’s all going to be about hurdles for him, but I’ve thrown a few quid at him for The Bumper at The Festival.

Jett’s back out today, in The Bumper at Punchestown. Certainly entitled to come on for that debut, and I’m hoping he can show enough to book a trip to Cheltenham.

Nothing much doing this season on this thread, other than Jett, who didn’t turn out to be too good. My other selection, Wayward Frolic, despite demolishing a seriously classy field ;-) by 54 lengths a few weeks back, strangely, doesn’t make it.

I’ll do my usual then, and include previous notebook horses who have made it, in few small stake each way perms, you never know.

    Coral Cup – Hisaabaat 25’s
Cross Country – Ipsos Du Berlais 20’s
JLT Chase – Apache Stronghold 5’s
    World Hurdle – Jetson 14’s
The Plate – De Boitron 33’s
Kim Muir – Clondaw Knight 18’s
County Hurdle – The Game Changer 10’s
    Foxhunter – Consigliere 25’s
    Grand Annual – Astracad 25’s
