It was , I believe , Anthony Kemp , who , I agree , does
not have , to my humble ears , an appealing accent .

What about "commentates with his eyes closed" Jim McGrath?
Richard Hoiles did a thoroughly professional job today
I remember watching ch4 racing a couple of years ago and Richard was presenting.
My then girlfriend said:
"Who’s that guy? I can’t stand him. He never stops smiling."
That should have been a tip-off that, deep down, she was a miserable cow.
(as I later found out – lol!)

May 27, 2007 at 09:18 #49833I see this thread was originally about the presenters tipping abilty, but as is the norm on TRF the posters can’t help themselves, ie slagging them off.
Right here is my two bits worth.
Can’t believe Scudamore hasn’t got a mention yet, and have to agree with Ted, that Declan Murphy was the most irritating, annoying, stuttering idiot. ATR employed this guy for his so called intelligence, "spare me".
Where is he now ??, are the HRA after his ass, this guy was as crooked as Bradley, incidently they were good buddies too, he was also a good buddy of that gangster Curley aswell, "enough said". He would stop a train if the price was right.

I thought the title was "Worst tv pundits or tipters" mm?
which most posters have kept to apart from your goodself with your possibly libellous comments about 2 people neither of whom are pundits :naughty:

Alright Yeats, I obviously misread the title, but looking at that not so smiley face you put in, Its like you took great pleasure in catching me out.
So you never put anything potentially Liable on TRF ???
May 27, 2007 at 09:45 #49836No

i find that bloody irritating too. Also he is very good at hinting (like some city worker obsesed with his slary) at how well he shrewd he is. ie "had a terrible run. not a winner in four bets"
Points about Mellish are spot on. hes the best of the lot (despite reet’s crush on Hollis) His race reading is uncannyly accurate and succint. Nice guy too
May 27, 2007 at 10:20 #49838Reets crush on hoiles is should say :)
May 27, 2007 at 10:45 #49839My point is, I don’t allow any tv presenters to wind me up so much that I feel the need to publicly slag them off every week, whereas I’ve seen people on different forums who seem to want to slag off Derek Thompson on a daily basis, and I just think they should get a life.
When I was driving in London for a living, I used to listen to Derek Thompson at Windsor on a Monday evening, and almost feel as if I was there at the track with him.
I thought he (and Charlie McCann for that matter) did a great job, but even if I thought he was crap, I wouldn’t have felt the need to inform everybody of that fact every hour of every day.
May 27, 2007 at 17:54 #49842How do you get full screen on ATR extra?
Thanks
May 27, 2007 at 18:31 #49844You wouldn’t be able to see the bookmakers’ links then!;)

May 27, 2007 at 19:29 #49847Has anyone mentioned Matt Chapman yet? How is it possible for so much **** come out of one person’s mouth?
May 27, 2007 at 19:32 #49848Its got to be Steve Mellish, Pro punter my a***.
How he could possibly make money followng his own advice I don’t know and the waffle and cliches he comes out with are very annoying!!
May 27, 2007 at 19:57 #49849I like Melish, almost as much as what one of his fellow RUK presenters and TRF readers does (allegedly! ). He is one of a few, (Cunningham, Nevison and Freemantle the only others off the top of my head) that can watch a race once and begin to analyse it correctly. His only fault is that he has a really annoying habit of referring to fillys and mares as ‘he’.
May 27, 2007 at 20:11 #49851I can listen to Dave ‘King of the Aftertimers’ Nevison for about 5 seconds before I’m prepared to pull my own leg off just to have something to hit him with.
