Cannot stand "talk with your eyes closed" Jim McGrath

What about "commentates with his eyes closed" Jim McGrath?

Richard Hoiles did a thoroughly professional job today

I remember watching ch4 racing a couple of years ago and Richard was presenting.

    My then girlfriend said:

"Who’s that guy? I can’t stand him. He never stops smiling."

That should have been a tip-off that, deep down, she was a miserable cow.

(as I later found out – lol!)

I see this thread was originally about the presenters tipping abilty, but as is the norm on TRF the posters can’t help themselves, ie slagging them off.

Right here is my two bits worth.
Can’t believe Scudamore hasn’t got a mention yet, and have to agree with Ted, that Declan Murphy was the most irritating, annoying, stuttering idiot. ATR employed this guy for his so called intelligence, "spare me".
Where is he now ??, are the HRA after his ass, this guy was as crooked as Bradley, incidently they were good buddies too, he was also a good buddy of that gangster Curley aswell, "enough said". He would stop a train if the price was right.

i find that bloody irritating too. Also he is very good at hinting (like some city worker obsesed with his slary) at how well he shrewd he is. ie "had a terrible run. not a winner in four bets"

Points about Mellish are spot on. hes the best of the lot (despite reet’s crush on Hollis) His race reading is uncannyly accurate and succint. Nice guy too

My point is, I don’t allow any tv presenters to wind me up so much that I feel the need to publicly slag them off every week, whereas I’ve seen people on different forums who seem to want to slag off Derek Thompson on a daily basis, and I just think they should get a life.
When I was driving in London for a living, I used to listen to Derek Thompson at Windsor on a Monday evening, and almost feel as if I was there at the track with him.
I thought he (and Charlie McCann for that matter) did a great job, but even if I thought he was crap, I wouldn’t have felt the need to inform everybody of that fact every hour of every day.
Its got to be Steve Mellish, Pro punter my a***.

I like Melish, almost as much as what one of his fellow RUK presenters and TRF readers does (allegedly! ). He is one of a few, (Cunningham, Nevison and Freemantle the only others off the top of my head) that can watch a race once and begin to analyse it correctly. His only fault is that he has a really annoying habit of referring to fillys and mares as ‘he’.

I can listen to Dave ‘King of the Aftertimers’ Nevison for about 5 seconds before I’m prepared to pull my own leg off just to have something to hit him with.
