I have taken 7/2 without Big Bucks as an insurance policy! Imagine if Big Bucks were to beat Tidal bay in a photo finish at my lofty prices! Sickener would be an understatement!
February 3, 2010 at 14:33 #273775I’d only have taken that 7/2 if it was w/o Big Bucks AND Karabak. I’m eagerly awaiting the latter’s price in that market to touch 3s as the Tiday Bay hype gathers momentum.

You mean the realisation gathers momentum Euro?

I thought 162 myself, but that rating was based on soft ground,
i would say he can run to a mark of 170 on genuine good ground, which would still leave a deficit of 4lb to find with Big Bucks, neither here nor there over 3m, a couple of mistakes from Bucksy and then the sprint up the hill! And the money still pours on! 7/2 on the day me thinks!!

numbers grabbed out of thin air, good luck with that

I bet your sweating buckets really! It looked a one horse race up until the beast was unleashed on Saturday! Mind you.4/1 was the best price you could have got, hardly worth sweating over!!

February 3, 2010 at 20:21 #273832Tiday Bay also beat Katchit, previously a Triumph Hurdle and Champion Hurdle winner who obviously stayed the trip OK
Re Handicappers in 2nd place Don’t Push, 1 & 1/2 lengths second to Big Bucks in the 2009 Cleeve wasn’t excatly a group horse either.

Euro, i have this saying about "seeing the wood from the trees"
last Saturdays Cleeve hurdle sums that up to a tee!February 3, 2010 at 20:32 #273838I thought 162 myself, but that rating was based on soft ground,

Very disrespectful! Can you remember when we discussed having gut feelings about something Grass? and you very disrespectfully called it "Belly rumblings"! Well i"m having that feeling again about Tidal Bay sprinting past Big Bucks up the hill! I will be in labour come race time!
February 4, 2010 at 14:00 #273918The gamble continues, 20/1 after the race, cut into 12"s within minutes, 10"s the following morning and now 8/1 is the best price on offer for
Tidal Bay
winning the World hurdle,he will be 7/2 2nd fav on the day! I feel like one of those revolutionaries leading my Army of Pirates into battle against the Kingdom of Big bucks! "No prisoners taken"!!

He can go off 6/4 for all the good it’ll do him. The fact remains that he needs to improve a stone for his victory last weekend and will probably still need Big Buck’s to under-perform.

Just a stone eh! No problem when i know he will improve 10lbs just on better ground. That leaves 4lb, that will come just for the fact he wasn"t even 90% fit last weekend! 6/4"s a bit tight,Panic setting in?
February 5, 2010 at 10:24 #274093If Tiday Bay had been really fancied by the stable in The Cleeve, Paul Carberry would have been on his back, not kicking his heels at the abandonned Doncaster meeting.
He’ll come on no end for the run, I haven’t seen him enjoy himself so much during at race for yearsFebruary 5, 2010 at 10:30 #274095I think a lot of people are underestimating the raw ability that Tidal Bay possesses.
I don’t think he has been helped with some of the placements he has had over the past few years, behind chopped and changed in trip so often that he has never really been able to get into a rhythm.
He is a very fast horse too, don’t write him off too soon.
