I think 16s is pretty short at this stage. Would be looking for at least 25s/33s, however, can’t really see any scenario where she would win…..
Absolute Bullsh1t Ben……should be 200/1
I had this debate last year when some were talking Champion Hurdle and how she was a great EW bet. I said she’d be tailed off and I was wrong………she was only beaten 25 lengths
She may improve for a longer trip and could pick up a grade 2 or Grade 3 hurdle somewhere along the line but to expect more would be folly.
I backed Big Bucks early on for the World Hurdle thinking he was a good thing but that Diamond Harry blew me away the other day. I thought he might not train on this season but he looks better than ever. The only way Whiteoak could win is if they both fell at the first and that’s only because you can’t remount any more.
Classic Fist, but Diamond Harry should be jumping fences.Big Bucks on Good ground around Cheltenham will see off the Diamond that Harry will no doubt become, once he has been polished for jumping fences!
December 4, 2009 at 13:20 #262058diamond harry beat a horse rated 135, in a race that despite the prize was basically rubbish.
yes he won well but he’s got over a stone to find just to get into the race proper and realistically has little time to find it, given BB looks capable of racing to 175+ already.
Only unknown is Karabak, and again he needs to have improved in serious fashion.
December 4, 2009 at 13:25 #262060^ I forgot to say, Harry rated 165, PMSL
December 5, 2009 at 22:25 #262344Burton Point may well have been rated 134 before that race but he was well clear of the third and Diamond Harry cantered all over him and is well worth a rating of 160+
December 14, 2009 at 18:09 #263848Diamond Harry has to be the bet @ 4-1,He could be anything and he always seems to beat all the big stables big guns, hes the value.
December 15, 2009 at 11:45 #263937December 15, 2009 at 14:40 #263958In my view, the fixed brush hurdle won by Diamond Harry at Haydock will become the race of choice for staying novices moving into the the senior ranks. Rather like the Hennessy is for 2nd season chasers. Well done to Nick Wiliams for spotting the rich pickings.
Taking on Big Buck’s is something else though…when DH was put in the very top class last year he was readily outpointed. Big Buck’s to beat Karabak on Saturday.December 18, 2009 at 08:13 #264339Big Bucks is at this stage the Nap of the meeting but how about old foe Fair Along to grab a place?
His performance at the beginning of the year in the Cleeve Hurdle when he was ridden very agressively and pushed Big Bucks and Punchestowns all the way shows he is capable at the top level and he has shown his well being when handing out a drubbing to some fair sorts in the John Smiths Hurdle at Wetherby. It was also to be noted that the yard were not overly confident (drifted from 9/4 to 3/1) as they still had a fair bit left to work on making it as even more impressive performance.
If racing goes ahead at Ascot tomorrow he may find it a struggle in the Long Walk as the evergreen Lough Derg will take him on at the front. He will not have Lough Derg to contend with in the World Hurdle and I think that will make a BIG difference.
The best price currently on offer is 25/1 with Paddy Power, I though would hold on until after the Long Walk and expect to able to grab some 33/1 on Sunday!
December 29, 2009 at 15:08 #266244So you’d have Diamond Harry (potentially) running against the likes of Riverside Theatre, Kangaroo Court, Tataniano, Sizing Europe, Punchestowns, Mikael D’Haguenet, Michel Le Bon, Pride Of Dulcote, Gullible Gordon, Pandorama and Bensalem, TAPK, rather than competing in a match race against Big Buck’s?
I dare say connections are relieved that the decision is theirs and not yours.
They should listen to the King of Foresight now though!
December 29, 2009 at 15:13 #266246There"s only one horse who could give Big Bucks a race in this years World hurdle and he cant jump fences either!Tidal bay at 260 on the machine! Connections dont need me to remind them of their success in this particular race!
December 29, 2009 at 19:41 #266297^ The only problem with that is Tidal Bay is a thorough hound, more than likely carrying a physical problem, and even on his best form would get spanked.

Not over hurdles he aint, 2nd in the Ballymore just like Inglis Drever! Get him back over hurdles!
December 29, 2009 at 21:42 #266319He’s got a physical problem whatever the obstacles are, same for his head. And he’s not good enough anyway. Not a good combo.

His head has always been like that, yes he is not a natural leper as we say in Ireland, but he will get over hurdles a lot easier than fences,he also has an engine, his day will come when all the short memories have written him off!
December 29, 2009 at 22:53 #266343At 260-1 thats a fair shout TAPK! At 100-1 id call that a good shout! Tidal Bay is likely to enjoy being returned to hurdles like other horses have recently too….like big bucks! He’d be a good each way bet if nothing else as everything else seems to be novice chasing this year.
January 8, 2010 at 20:09 #268842Back to reality and it appears it will be BB v Karabak v Sentry Duty.
Not a bad race in the end then!
January 8, 2010 at 20:29 #268844Quite fancy Time for Rupert to sneek a place in this… Hugely overpriced at 94/1 on Betfair at the mo.
