I suspected as much. Puts a different reflection on things but only if there’s plenty cut on the day….good to fast ground I doubt if he’ll even run him
October 18, 2009 at 02:24 #254011543 apparently going for this according to Mullins yesterday
Willie only said that Fiveforthree would stay over hurdles if they couldn’t get enough chasing experience into him before Cheltenham Roddy. He’s been slow to come to hand each season so very much a case of wait and see with him. If they can have him ready before the end of January then it is odds on he’ll go chasing.
November 27, 2009 at 12:35 #260747Diamond Harry being aimed at the World Hurdle.
Makes things a little more interesting now.
November 27, 2009 at 17:03 #260821Lie Forrit another potential opponent for the World Hurdle too. He was mightily impressive today conceding lumps of weight to Mith Hill. If, by some freak of nature, the ground came up soft or heavy in March he’d be a decent each way shout. Then again he’d have a favourites chance in the Pertemps final also!
November 28, 2009 at 13:41 #260935A gentle reminder just what a total machine this boy is
November 28, 2009 at 19:44 #261038Couldn’t help but think to myself today what a horse he would be if he jumped a fence better.
November 28, 2009 at 19:53 #261041How on earth did he open up 1/2 today? Should have been 1/5. Buying money!
There doesn’t appear to be a great deal of depth in this division at the moment. I backed Karabak a few weeks ago at 14s and I think he’ll improve significantly when stepped up to three miles but he’ll find it very tough to beat Big Bucks come March. No surprise that they are going this route with Diamond Harry either.
Looking beyond those three there is nothing that stands out. Can see Zaynar taking his chance in the Champion Hurdle after today’s events at Newcastle.
November 28, 2009 at 19:55 #261042Quite moehat, I’d be very glad he can’t jump a fence if I was Clive Smith.

Connections of Diamond Harry will be reconsidering that now!It would be a wasted season chasing home Big bucks tail when he could be doing what he should be doing! Jumping fences!

I think they probably already had a good idea as to the quality of Big Bucks. Perhaps you should just accept that Diamond Harry will not be jumping fences this season?

So you’d have Diamond Harry (potentially) running against the likes of Riverside Theatre, Kangaroo Court, Tataniano, Sizing Europe, Punchestowns, Mikael D’Haguenet, Michel Le Bon, Pride Of Dulcote, Gullible Gordon, Pandorama and Bensalem, TAPK, rather than competing in a match race against Big Buck’s?
I dare say connections are relieved that the decision is theirs and not yours.
November 30, 2009 at 11:50 #261295I’d agree.
Potentially, there are more high class opponents if Diamond Harry were to go chasing.
If he stays over hurdles, and goes for the World Hurdle, he has a great chance as there isn’t a great deal of depth within the World Hurdle division.

I’d have thought 16s about a horse that I cannot possibly see winning is short enough. Wait for the TBP market if you fancy her to run well I reckon.
December 3, 2009 at 00:38 #261880I think 16s is pretty short at this stage. Would be looking for at least 25s/33s, however, can’t really see any scenario where she would win…..
December 3, 2009 at 21:08 #261996Agreed, she’s got a hell of a lot to do. Anything turning up is racing for 2nd, there isn’t a runner in this division that could get big bucks off the bridle, this is his nursery until he is ready to chasing again.

Absolute Bullsh1t Ben……should be 200/1

I had this debate last year when some were talking Champion Hurdle and how she was a great EW bet. I said she’d be tailed off and I was wrong………she was only beaten 25 lengths

She may improve for a longer trip and could pick up a grade 2 or Grade 3 hurdle somewhere along the line but to expect more would be folly.
I backed Big Bucks early on for the World Hurdle thinking he was a good thing but that Diamond Harry blew me away the other day. I thought he might not train on this season but he looks better than ever. The only way Whiteoak could win is if they both fell at the first and that’s only because you can’t remount any more.
