Sorry that last post looks like sour grapes! As was pointed out he just wasn’t quick enough round there. Very unsatisfactory race given the proximinity of Boo for a start.
March 24, 2007 at 16:00 #48055Winter Derby was always gonna be a no pace race, once there was no natural front runner in feild and agree i too think best horse won regardless
My lamps have gone altogether, other races seem to be run in a similar fashion, weird 5f sprint, looked to be in slow motion to me :o
March 24, 2007 at 16:10 #48058A more exciting finish than the race itself. Quite remarkable Gentlemans Deal, Winner on all the AW surfaces. Being so prolific @ southwell was the reason i went off him. Well done to GD! shame these top races are spoilt by a farcical pace. JMO.
Hinton Admiral and King Orchisios helped recoup though, wish i’d put GD in the treble now
March 24, 2007 at 16:17 #48059Yes I agree with that TDK. Is Gentleman’s Deal the first horse to win at all 4 all-weather tracks? I certainly cannot recall another one.
Isn’t that always the way on Polytrack?
Sure it makes for competitive handicaps with exciting finishes but if the future in America is this surface (as is reported) then the Breeder’s Cup will be turned into a luck-in-running farce.
March 24, 2007 at 17:03 #48065Gonna have to disagree, IMO it happens more in the longer distance races. Jockeys are pesistently told you can’t make all, i think this could be a lot to do with it. i find the races up to 1 mile fine in general. I’m probably wrong as usual though ;) .
March 24, 2007 at 17:25 #48066races are run differently in this country, it’s hold up and Sprint, do your rivals for toe, in the US it is Early speed and and burn off your rivals
April 1, 2007 at 17:14 #48067Well done again with Greenwood Alan.
