Can anyone tell me why people are fancying William Hogarth for next year’s derby even though he is yet to run? So what basis does that make him a leading fancy for next years classic. I cannot believe they is a lot of mugs out there that are backing a horse with no evidence at all that he can win a derby. All you can know he could get beaten on his first run what would that do to is odds for the derby? I remember last year when people said a horse called Leningrad would win the derby after winning a modest race on the all weather people were backing hunderds of pounds on him for the derby before flopping in spectactular fashion. Serves all the mugs who backed him right.

His odds are so prohibited probably on the basis of good gallop reports, or a few ‘faces’ asking for a price. I would hazard a guess that the bookies are just running scared and for them it’s better to have it short in the betting and push it out, rather than have it big and get stung.
