What a horse!!
And I think he still knows he is sooooooooooo special
And I am a little excited that I am going to see one of his offspring in the flesh tomorrow!!
If I knew what you looked like me and Mrsraymo would keep an eye out for you
September 22, 2016 at 23:43 #1264369Thanks Joni, Cormack and St. Nic he really is something, I’m definitely going to try to go back and see him again next year
I think I’m going to hang on to my son’s camera for a bit those pics are much better than my little Canon Coolpix as I’m going to demonstrate now with a couple of pics of EMINENT taken in the pre-parade today just before he belted home to win his maiden in great style.RAYMO I never saw your post about being at Newmarket today. Are you going again tomorrow (Friday)? if you are PM me. You must have been around the pre-parade to see Eminent wasn’t he fantastic.
Here are a couple of pics of him in the pre-parade the one’s he was playing up at first but he settled down quickly and really got on with the job in hand.
Quite plain around the legs but with that distinctive white face he looks very much like his Great Grandsire Sadlers Wells.Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...September 22, 2016 at 23:46 #1264370Don’t know what’s happened to all the posts being different sizes, sorry the pics are sooooo huge..but he’s worth it

Thanks Joe glad I got them on before this Thread went a bit wobbly.
If you want to see Frankel at Banstead Manor Stud the Tours are over for this year but if you sign up to Juddmonte’s site for Frankel News they will notify you when the next one’s will be.
Alternatively look up Discover Newmarket on the web they do a lot of interesting stud visits including the Frankel Tour..they go very quickly I couldn’t get in the first year but managed it this time and it was well worth the wait..Jac

Is amazing the effect that he had/has on so many people. My elderly mother who is pretty close to being house-bound subscribes to both racing channels even though she does not bet and has had a huge amount of pleasure following Frankel’s offspring as they make their debuts on the racecourse.
Like any Sport, Racing needs its superstars & he certainly is one.
September 23, 2016 at 13:15 #1264407I don’t know Joni the one thing that struck me about Swiss Storm is how mature and professional he looks. He looks like a three year old. My concern for next season actually would be that he might lose that edge so why not strike while the iron is hot? He could alternatively go for the Dewhurst as he seems unlikely to go beyond a mile on breeding and that is more the recognised trial for the guineas.
I think that is what makes racing exciting as well these inexperienced horses pitched straight into group ones. And that as a punter you have to weigh up their chances against the runners with more established form. If every trainer adopted the softly softly approach racing would be very boring.
One of the most overrated words in the english language for me is “experienced”

You make some good points Judge. I would only say that, in my experience, the best trainers are the most patient and they won’t rush a horse unnecessarily. Swiss Storm is like a big, dorky over-sized teenager at the moment but he is going to be a superstar young adult if handled well. I am not against him running in the RP per say, but just would prefer to see him have another run first.

September 23, 2016 at 21:51 #1264497Looking at the pictures of Eminent – 3 x 3 Sadler’s Wells, plus Nureyev – so 4 x 5 and 5 x 4 ND. Is it any wonder he looks like this?
Interesting to look at Jac’s pictures of Frankel as a ‘let down’ stallion – he’s very short coupled and power packed, not to mention with a big gut on him (so, he still likes to eat!). I instantly thought ‘miler/10f producer’. Seeing him looking like this led to some delving in the picture galleries, and here I find myself coming back to the ones that are around of ND himself. Frankel is a different bay (the standard bay you get from the Galileo/Danehill cross – i.e. the Ballydoyle/Coolmore ‘bay’) but look at the two of them in terms of conformation and you can see where the back end on Frankel comes from (and the tail)! Plus, the look is all ND. The comments in the link about ND’s temperament are also instructive … this is what is coming through in the progeny, but then that isn’t surprising given the number of repetitions in these current pedigrees.

It will be interesting to see what she fetches, and who buys her.
September 23, 2016 at 23:00 #1264512Shall we do a TRF whip-round and see if we can get her?

September 23, 2016 at 23:14 #1264515So it was lovely to finally meet Jac at Newmarket today though we were both disappointed to see Fair Eva get beat. Hopefully all is not yet lost, her dam was a good 2 year old but improved at 3 as did her dad and it is possible that FE will also be better next year. But will she be good enough to win a Guineas? That has to now be doubtful. As Titus said, she does not look to have that physical edge over her rivals now and it may just be that others are catching her up. Also, the more I look at her races the less convinced I am that she is going to be an out and out miler. If you watch the Lowther again you will see that she actually hits the front at the furlong pole and then loses a length or two on the front two inside the final furlong. So it wasn’t your typical performance of a 7f furlong horse getting outpaced before closing in the latter stages – in fact it was almost the opposite of that. Her dam won her Group 1 race over 6f during her 3 year old season and we could all just have been wrong about her needing further. Whatever, there are now more questions than answers.
On to tomorrow and I will be hoping that Queen Kindly can run well against the American beast. If that one is as good as she showed at Ascot then the race is already over but, like Fair Eva, it may just be that the rest are catching her up. If So QK could be the one to cause an upset.

September 24, 2016 at 10:08 #1264563Check out the latest Frankel to debut in Japan, Mi Suerte. Maybe his most impressive debutant yet.
September 24, 2016 at 10:21 #1264567Fantastic Sea Bird! Thanks for sharing – that’s put a smile on my face after yesterday’s disappointment.

September 24, 2016 at 11:49 #1264581That was impressive, Sea Bird; thanks for posting. Does anybody have any idea of the strength of the race?
September 24, 2016 at 11:56 #1264582Wow! She won it hard held like she’d just jumped in at the furlong pole. A very exciting prospect.
September 24, 2016 at 12:00 #1264586Jesus, made it look so easy. Nice spanish name too :p
