Provideo’s record was 16-7-1 so that seems to fit the bill. I managed to back him when he recorded the “1” of that record.

In a scenario reminiscent of the film Kes, my brother was meant to put a double on Provideo and another horse for me but he missed Provideo’s race. Instead of just putting it on the other horse as a single, he left it and I had to watch Provideo win and then the other horse also went in at 14/1. My mother’s Budgie had a very nervous weekend.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

If MJ trained him the formline would look more like computer machine code 100010100001000001

As you all say, Bill O’Gorman’s Provideo in his 1984 2yo season, with a record-breaking 16 wins. The final, unplaced run was an attempt at some race in the States, which O’Gorman said was a stupid idea in hindsight.

The aforementioned Spindrifter copped 13 wins as a 2yo in 1980 but later O’Gorman’s Timeless Times equalled the 16 wins in 1990.

I think the shame is that due to the fact that many 2yo races nowadays are out of bounds for previous winners (rather than running under penalties) these records are not likely to be challenged again. We always seemed to have a precocious type ‘going for the record’ every year!

Anyone know the winningmost 2yos in recent years..?

I’ve got Peek to Creek winning seven in 2003 for Jeremy Noseda.

Tiggy Wiggy and Dawn Approach would be two of eight that won six as two year old’s in recent years.

The last of the real busy and successful youngsters I can think of is Timeless Times, whose 1990 season has an eerie similarity to Provideo’s, even including the zero on the final start.

Timeless Times went 111112111111111213130 to match Provideo’s record of 16 with 2 fewer runs on 21 for the season.

I think Dublin Lad ran 26 times as a 2yo in the mid 1980’s but I can’t recall how many of those he won.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Cheers Cav, it’s no great shakes is it? Sadly looks like those double-figure-wins days are gone forever :negative:

Transfixed ran 28 times as a 2yo for Dave Evans back in 2009, he won six as well. Evans trained the second-most busy 2yo of recent times too, Johnny Hancocks who ran 22 times in 2010, winning three.

Busiest 2yo of 2017 was Mick Channon’s, Milton Road, who ran 17 times. He won four.
